Who would you say has been the Most Valuable player for the first half of this season? I am leaning towards LT,but I am not sure if that feeling is inflated because of the relatively lower expectations I had for him this year.
My MVP has been Sanchez, he hasn't been the best player on our team but his improvement both on the field and leadership wise is a huge reason we are 6-2.
If you had asked this at the 1/4 pole I would have voted Keller. Right now overall I would have to go with Edwards on offense Cromartie on "D"
Offense: Sanchez. This year the Jets have won games BECAUSE of Mark Sanchez not in spite of him. He's on pace for a 20 TD 10 INT season, huge improvement from last year Defense: Cromartie. When Revis was out Cro stepped up big time. Now he's shutting down #2 wideouts while Revis is back to taking #1s out of the game. If Kyle Wilson can be the player we think he can we'll be back to having the #1 pass defense
Offensive Line, they do a great job just about every snap now. I know that's not 1 player, but they are the iron-men of olines, playing as 1 cohesive super unit. For 1 player on offense I'd go with Mark, he's come up big when needed, and during our first 4 games leading us to 3-0 in the division. On defense, I'd go with Cromartie, with all the issues that started with Revis he was the rock of the secondary for a while. The job he did in the 2nd half on Moss was unreal. 2 picks, 11 PD's, and has been shutting down his receiver since the return of Revis and it's gone fairly unnoticed.
Cromartie came into the season with a huge question mark over him and his crown jewels...he's been outstanding.
David Harris still flyin under the radar.Although maybe not MVP candidate still is very underrated.Saw a show not too long ago about the top 10 middle linebackers in the league and he wasnt even mentioned!
In my opinion both Scott and Harris are playing solid but not lights out. Excellent in the run game but last year they were better in pressuring the QB... hope they step up in that department. Mvps: on O Edwards & LT, on D Cromartie & Pouha.
Dustin Keller I like a lot, but thats just my opinion. Braylon Edwards also, but no ones been completely consistent. Antonio Cromartie really saved our season though, he saved us in the Patriots games and did great when Revis was gone after the 2nd week. Only Marshall really burned him while revis was gone, but he did stop Marshall from catching the ball on 3rd down and goal forcing the Phins to kick a field goal instead of taking a lead. So actually Antonio Cromartie has been the Most Valuable Player.
Dbrick is absolutely the MVP of the entire team right now, no question. week in and week out he shuts down the entire left side and gives mark time to throw the ball even when mark isnt playing well. he protects our young quaterback, opens wholes in the run game and in my opinion has been the best left tackle in the league in the 1st half of the season. honorable mentions on offense : Brandon Moore. and props to Woody for finally improving his pass blocking. i think he only allowed 1sack against Clay in the packer game. defense: cromartie gets mention but for god sakes people Devito and Pouha are the ones keeping our D steady and stopping the run. Huge reasons why we have been winning on an already thin D line
^^^ This. 1000 times this. Mangoldman you hit the nail on the head with Po and Devito. They are consistently underrated by all of the "analysts." Po has been everything I could have asked for in my NT - he eats up space, constantly draws double teams and, without question, is a big reason for our ability to stuff the run this year (recall last year we had problems with this until about week 8 - though by NO means am I suggesting this was due to Big Jenks, I miss the hell out of you man). Devito has also been stout, occupying bodies, drawing double teams, and collapsing the pocket. I honestly don't know if he is showing up statistically, but his presence is felt. On O, my MVP is Mark Sanchez. I thought to myself in the offseason, is Revis our most important player? Maybe, but I believed our success was predicated on Sanchez's ability to improve. Say what you will about the wins at Denver and Detroit, but his poise and decision-making skills have improved dramatically from last year. I only hope the game continues to slow down for him as he gets better each week.
