    Snell vs Maine
    Gorzelanny vs Glavine
Maholm vs Perez (turkey sandwich game!)

    Need 2/3 here.

Moises Alou is one of the biggest, softest bitches out there. He was supposed to finally come back tonight, but is now complaining of tendonitis. This guy is a complete fucking joke. What a complete waste of money. I knew he was injury prone when we signed him, but I didn't expect it to be THIS bad. What a piece of shit. I honestly hate the guy, but we need him bad with injuries.

Easley is back off the bereavement list and Chip Ambres was DFA.

Cohen jinxed the inning: His past two starts, Maine has had trouble getting out of the 1st, but here, he's gotten the first two outs. Ugh. 1-0 Pirates.

Gotay hits a double after Reyes does! 1-0 Mets! And as I type that, he advances to 3rd on Beltran's single.

Sac fly by Wright makes it 2-1...I like where this is going.

Am I the only person who thinks that series against the Pirates and Nats are the perfect time to find out if Castro can play every day? After all, Lo Duca will be long gone next year.

I just don't see that happening...the Mets as we know them don't give starting jobs to the Ramon Castros of the world, for better or worse.

I agree with you. Castro has been playing well lately, and we're at home against bad teams. why not try him out?

Unfortunately I agree with this. It took injuries to Valentin to get Gotay a few starts and I believe the only time Castro has played back to back games this year was when LoDuca got suspended.

Willie loves those old wily veterans with no upside over younger players.

I was just reading something I wrote this off-season, and I called John Maine a strong #4 starter. Oh, and Ollie was labeled a 4/5 starter.

So in case you were on the fence about something I wrote, lean the other way.

Good point, didn't even realize that subplot

Oh, and Castro's 31 years old. So I doubt Minaya and Randolph give him a whiff of an opportunity at the starting job. Come to think of it, I have no idea who's out there to play catcher next year.

Bay hits a solo shot in the top of the 4th, we're tied at 2.

    Catchers
    Jorge Posada (36)
    Ivan Rodriguez (36) - $13MM club option for '08
    Paul Lo Duca (36)
    Michael Barrett (31)
    Jason Kendall (34)

So in short, there's no one.

I vote for Posada in the hopes that a) Steinbrenner will put out a dumb press release ripping us and b) all Yankee fans will flip out.

In reality, Omar's definitely trading Fernando Martinez for Yadier Molina or something.

I doubt Posada is going anywhere. Most of the catchers in the league are so bad that it makes absolutely no sense paying 6-7M+ a year for one when you've got a guy that can probably put up better or at least similar numbers for cheap.

    Thanks for the run, Xavier.
