So after another 4th place year, this offseason should be a lot more interesting than in previous years. Will Reyes re-sign? Will the Mets make any trades?

window we have to exclusively talk to reyes is thursday but unless we blow him away with an offer he is going to wait til hit free agency....team announced today that they are moving in the fences and lowering the wall in left field to 8 feet...also changing the color of it to blue

I still can't believe you guys hired JP Ricciardi.

I wonder if the Mets will bring Matt Stairs out of retirement and give him a 50 million dollar contract.

    Freddie: SELL THE FUCKING TEAM.

    PLEASE!!!!
If you really are a fan of this team, as you claim, sell to a person or group of people who will spend.
I don't know if signing Reyes is the right thing long-term, but the only FA I've seen us linked to is Rick God damn Ankiel. The Yankees pick and choose who they want, and we not only lose our marquee guy, but we don't go after anyone. It really is depressing being a fan of this team.

Honestly, giving Reyes the contract he is seeking is bad business and is the type of contract that got us in this mess in the first place. He is too injury-prone and his game is to reliant on speed that he'll play two-three years up to the value of the contract and then it'll be considered an albatross for the remaining 3-5 years. Its gonna hurt, but I see Alderson's thought-process here.

Wilpons should sell though...the worst sports owners in NY right now...even Dolan is improved...somewhat.

I'm not saying Reyes is necessarily the answer, I'm just saying it's beyond frustrating living in New York when one team not only keeps it's young players but also adds whoever the hell they please (pretty much) while we not only don't keep our young guys but we can't "afford" to pick up anyone else.
    It sucks.
If this were a one team town, I'd still be a little perturbed, but considering we play in the same city as the Yanks just magnifies things even more. And as a Mets fan, you already know if we keep Reyes, he'll get hurt within a month or two, and if he goes to another team, he'll hit .370 and steal 70 bases. hahah.....

We don't we re-sign Reyes we get a 1st round draftv pick and get to save 80+million dollars to spend on other non-injury prone players. I'm actually leaning towards not re-signing him because if we do, major cuts would have to be made.

Depends on who signs him...we automatically get a compensatory first rounder (sandwiched between first and second), but if a team in the bottom 15 signs him we only get their second rounder (i.e. Miami signing him)

Saving that money is much more important than a first round pick that will most likely be a high school kid that won't contribute for four or five years.

You mean we can't have our cake and eat it too?

I feel a lot of macho-ness going on between Alderson and Reyes' agents. For that reason "Home town discount" won't even be said between the 2 :(

Reyes will probably end up going to the Cubs. If there's one GM that's known to throw money at players like that it's Eipstein.

Wow I tried to forget the Mets for a while...

I think Both Reyes and Wright will be gone, I can see us trading DW for players and prospects . Reyes imo was neve in our plans to resign as the cost / length of contract is not an Alderson type deal

I see Tejada playing SS, Murphy 3B , Davis at first and an upgrade at 2B

An outfield of Duda / ANO / Bay

    SP: Santana / Gee / Dickey / pelfrey ( fucking hell! ) / ano

    RP: ANO/ANO/ANO/ANO/ANO/ANO/ BYRDAK
