Just on ESPN. His pick to make it back to the playoffs this year is the Jets IF they can get McFadden this weekend.

I guess once we saw this we both came to this site :)... man I can't wait for the draft.

I think we are still in playoff contention if we don't get Mcfadden though. Say we get Gholston, Long, or even Mckelvin or some other surprise, with all our acquisitions I still think we got a shot.

His point is the Jets have to get more exciting on offense to get back. I agree.

'Exciting' doesn't always equate to wins.

I would love to nab McFadden at 6 but something tells me he's either gonna be a Raider or the Chiefs will swing a deal with a team thats in love with him (Dallas?). Gholston will be the pick.

McFadden is by no means the only player that would add excitement to the Jets O if he were drafted on Sunday. If the Jets do go defense early, they could still get many offensive players in the later rounds (Hardy,Stewart,Flacco,Rice) that could improve our offense. Plus we arent many players away from shoring up alot of defensive flaws. If we can fill 2 holes in our defense this year, lets say corner and de. Then next year we could go ILB SS, and have almost no holes in our defense, pending everything works out as planned.

If our OLine is as good as we hope it is, there's no reason a team with a pretty good defense and a very good running game (which we would have if we got McFadden, no doubt about that), then we will definitely contend for a playoff spot.

We already fixed our defensive flaws presumably. We have done nothing to fix our major offensive flaws. QB and the running game. (The line wasn't the only problem we had there). Flacco wouldn't help this year. No QB would. We don't need any more receivers until we have a QB. That leave RB as the only position that could have an impact this year and Ray Rice isn't the guy although I like him. He is not McFadden.

Yeah I agree with you mostly. I'm just not sold that McFadden is going to be a guaranteed stud in the NFL. Thats the only place we differ.

I'm not either but there is nobody else who I think is a guaranty either. I would rather take my chances with him than anybody else we might be able to get with the #6 pick. (Offensively, that is) I would take Chris Long over him but that is the only player I would. Not even Jake Long.

Yeah his potential is off the charts and we couldn't pass him up, but I'll pray everynight and hope Chris Long falls to 6 so we can.

True, but "exciting" does cause opposing defensive coaches more headaches than "bland". McFadden is dynamic, and dynamic is what defenses do not want to face.

Bland is what won a Lombardi Trophy for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I find bland a funny word to describe the 2005 Steelers Super Bowl win, considering the reverse pass from Randle-el to Ward was the game breaker.

That play would never have developed into anything without their overpowering (AKA 'bland') power running game.

I'm not disagreeing, I just found it a funny word considering what propelled them to the win.

Yea but there "bland" running game would have never worked without the gamebreaker in Willie Parker aka DMC

Hahaha, we'll see who DMC emulates when he takes a single freaking NFL snap, some of this stuff is hilarious. Yours wasn't quite as funny as when Don called him 'the next Barry Sanders', though. I doubt he can make the cuts that either of those guys make/made.

DMC is still not getting the AD draft grade, and barely touches Bush's draft grade- so how is he the next coming of anything? I find him a really fast kid with alot of questions on and off the field... thats a dangerous pick at #6.

Can he do well, yes- but with the speed of the NFL thats, and i quote every player in the NFL "way, way faster than college", will it transition. I think it will, but it will be similar to Bush's speed to the NFL, not Peterson's. And thats a big difference.
