    McNabb Gives Pennington Advice
Thursday, October 11th, 2007 by Gary Grund

Gregg Hayim of Jets Confidential has some quote up from Donovan McNabb who advises Jets QB Chad Pennington to not listen to the critics.

    McNabb on Pennington?

?I talked to Chad in the preseason and it must be this whole radius with Eli (Manning). Chad and I, everybody seems to have a great time talking about us and getting us out of here. You have to take it with a grain of salt.?

?Statistically, Chad is not doing badly at all. He?s completed 71 percent of his balls, although he would like to have a couple throws back. I think one thing for Chad, and I told him this preseason, is for the team to stay focused and not to worry about that. Those same people who talk badly about you or down to you are the first ones to pat you on the back when you are doing well.?

It was nice to finally here someone squash all the talk about completion percentage last Sunday. Randy Cross basically said that completion percentage is meaningless unless he gets the team in the end zone...amen.

McNabb is welcome to support Chad all he wants, but if he actually believes that a 71% completion percentage means that he is "not doing badly at all," then he is far more clueless than I would have ever thought.

Statistically, (The only one that counts) Chad is 1-4. I don't agree that that is doing well.

Cool I like on sucky player sticking up for another. LOL this is like Matt Leinart coming out and sticking up for Rex Grossman.

Mcnabb is a selfish over rated athlete. He is not 1/2 the man Chad is. THe only reason the Eagles did not sign Garcia was the Mcnabb would have cried about it and disrupted the team and cried Racism. And Chad sucks this year Donovan.

Good analogy 'cause neither D-Mac nor Leinart suck. After last week, Penny is just Rex w/o the arm.

...and McNabb often gets diarrhea at the mouth so I wouldn't ever want him speaking for me.

If I played against Chad this weekend I would say everything necessary to help him start against me.

Id have to go with Cross on that one. So what you complete 70% of your passes the other 30% is either dropped or picked off. Just like 15 straight passes ; so what we lost!

Of course McNabb is in love with completion percentage. He completes most of his passes underneath to Westbrook.

McNabb hasn't watched Chad play, I'm assuming... He's usually pretty busy on Sundays, and he's not studying the Jets offensive game film...

He knows what it's like to be a QB in the north east, and he's trying to give a little support to his friend... Little does he know, that his friend BLOWS

I am a chad supporter and even I will not defend his play the last 2 weeks. But making an abusrd post like this makes me think you, and some other posters on here, dont even watch any Jet games but like to comment on them.

First, Is it Chad's fault also that we didnt beat baltimore even though he didnt play? How the heck is he 1-4 then?

Second, how is the loss against the pats chad's fault? He was the only reason that game was respectable in the first half.

Third, why Is chad responsbile for all these losses? The whole team is playing like crap. You should also say that Vilma, D rob, dyson, and the jets o line is 1-4.

He's just trying to convince Mangini to keep him in so the Eagles have a shot!

If that were true, why did the Eagles draft Kevin Kolb with their first pick?

I'd stick up for Chad too if I was about to play the Jets. Back to back weeks he has handed the other team, which was outplayed most of the game, the win.

Yea I wish Chad would stop giving up +100 rushing yards a game and tackling Thomas Jones and Leon Washington in the backfield for 5 yard losses.

I disagree with people saying that McNabb is selfish. I'm glad to see him sticking up for another qb going through what he has.

It's just embarrassing the way fans turn on their players. i understand Chad isn't getting the job done and wanting a change but the way chad is bashed on here you'd think he's played like rick Mirer his entire career and had the personality of Ryan Leaf.
