Pretty good career numbers. He has fallen off as of late but he should come cheap. Idk if we should bring him in.
Sure, why not? Worth a shot. If the Jets dont draft a QB in the draft i'd have no problem letting him battle it out with Fitz and Geno.
I never understood his drastic decline. It looked like he was a top 15 player from awhile, but maybe he was just being held up by a pretty incredible Texans team for a year or two. His drop off was near-instant, though. If Mac thinks he has some talent left, I'm sure he'll try to bring him in.
I don't see it happening because of the Fitz signing. We don't need two veteran potential starters. It would be a log jam at that spot and too confusing. I guess Oakland cut him because of his salary.
Harm done is we can bring in another guy to look at. He's so done he'd be a waste of the training camp roster spot. Such as Matt Moore . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Me neither it's really a strange case. He had a bad stretch of constant pick 6s in Houston and the fans really turned on him, sending him death threats etc. I mean really turned on him. I think it totally killed his confidence and rattled him beyond repair. With that said he'd never survive the ny media. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The point i'm making is that we should constantly be looking at Vet QB's/QB's via the draft until we find one we can move forward in. I'm not campaigning for Schaub, really just responding to the OP's post by saying "sure why not?, we dont currently have a QB" so in my opinion it should be open season on looking at QB's long and hard until we find one. It doesnt have to be Schaub. You mentioned Moore, i'd be perfectly fine with that as well.
The boat has sailed on vet FA Qbs. Mac chose Fitz and even gave up a pick for him. It's over on that topic. Was Fitz the best choice. Well many thought Vick was last year and he wasn't.
Looking is one thing sure explore it. Giving him a spot in training camp is another. Sure why not, is not a reason and I just provided a reason why not. Moore has something to actually offer. Also this widespread notion we have zero qb is so overblown. Yes it's a sore spot but we arent staring down the barrel of Ryan lindley. There's some possible upside in geno and if not we've got a vet serviceman in fitz. It's not the worst situation ever although clearly room for improvement. I mean look around the league, most teams outside of an elite 5 aren't doing much better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can give anyone you want a shot in training camp if you think the guy can still play. He threw 10 passes last year for the Raiders who stink at evaluating players and at the same time, wanted to go with a guy they drafted in the first round. I dont know what the Jets think about Schaub, probably not much though since there has been no talk about him being linked to the Jets yet. Geno has plenty of upside, but he hasn't shown it yet. Fitz is competent but we should be looking to do better than him. I'm not saying its the worst situation ever but its a situation that we should be looking to upgrade.
But schaub can't still play...that's all there is to it. He brings zero and I mean zero upside Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just because you say he cant still play doesnt mean thats everyones thought on the matter. It's simply your opinion. I personally dont know if he can still play. He looked really bad at the end of a good run in Houston and then went to the Raiders and sat behind a first round draft pick. I'm not a big fan of the guy, but I wouldnt complainif he was signed.
Anyone who has paid a semblance of attention to the NFL over the last 36 months knows he can't play anymore. He sucked before getting hurt and was replaced by a second round pick. His showing at his end run in Houston was horrid and his showing before week 1 in Oakland was even worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm not saying he isnt done. But I dont think its a forgone conclusion like your making it out to be. If the Jets brought him in, i'd have zero problem with it. He was horrible at the end of a real good run in Houston and went to a terrible team/situation in Oakland. Like I said, he may very well have nothing less. But he's only 33 and i'm not going to act like I watched every game he played in Houston 2 years ago and could clearly tell he was shot.
