I hate the NY Post's articles baiting, but I enjoyed Mariota's take on things here and what kind of QB he is in the huddle

Without the CS to develop him, he's wasting his career coming here. He'll wind up being the 2nd coming of either Sanchez OR Smith as we absolutely SUCK at QB development. This is why its so important that Woody blows up this CS and replaces it with competent leadership BEFORE the draft. Woody really can't afford to have Idzik fuck this upcoming draft OR Rex begging for another high 1st round defensive pick.

This franchise is at a Xroads. Lets all hope Woody recognizes this and doesn't let his ego get in the way like he did barring any Revis return.

Cman I think we know there will be major overhaul changes coming if we get a top 3 pick...This includes I hope the axing of the GM impersonator John Idzik

Is this another one of those fake Manish Mehta fantasy articles where he fantasizes a scenario or is the interview real? I cant tell.

I cannot rely on NY Post, but Serby did use quotations to quote his interview with Mariota.

Would love him on this team but for his sake I hope he sits behind a veteran for a year

Hey hey now, I got a soft spot for Quincy Carter - when Pennington went down - Quincy was the man. Just wish he put the bong down :(

Poe, high pick or not, this Leadership team has got to go including our GM in training too. Mariota will only be as good as his development allows. His talent will only get him so far but he will have to learn how to "play" at the NFL level. That means for a long career, he better learn how to stay in the pocket and not take hits like RG3 and Vick.

Unless we fix the right and left tackles, and the right and left guards this kid is fucked

Yep. Damned if he runs... Damned if he stands tall in the pocket. So many issues... so little time..

I'll be damned if Willie Colon is playing guard for this team next year. The RT we got is also a bust.

Colon is the best Guard we have, which granted isn't saying much.
If we move on from him, it better be for a veteran upgrade, or we'll have just created yet another hole on the line.

Breno was absolutely dreadful last night, and Aboushi's inexperience really showed.
if we don't draft this kid in the first, i hope we take an OT.

I cant decide if Mariota's mild personality is a red flag concerning leadership, or if it could result in thick skin for this market (a la Eli never getting rattled)..

That's one of the things that worry me about him. He's just a vanilla personality. Not saying you can't win with a guy like that, but it's not what you search for in a team leader. If he was a lights out pocket passer, it might be forgivable.

RGIII was a mild guy with a handful of leadership qualities and has thrown his team under the bus like they were speed bumps. You don't know a guy like that until they have pressure on them.
