yes this topic has been regurgitated several times but i would just like to throw out a simplified opinion after 3 games...... i have watched most of the 3 jet games and 2 of the chief games. There are some glaring differences - most in favor of the jets. the biggest change IMO is the way the jets handle the offense - play selection, clock, efficiency, timeouts, etc etc. there is NO comparison and it really makes you wonder about the cluster $#%^ that was here the previous 5 years. the second biggest thing is adaptability - the jets are responding to game conditions, strategy and momemtum - something i have not seen since the parcells days. As a bipolar jet fan i feel 1000% more confident with this staff than the previous regime. lets give them another offseason of work and look forward to some serious playoff contention, possibly as early as next year but i think 2008 would be the real push. jil
The one thing that has jumped out at me has been the in-game adjustments. In previous years the Jets would be unable to come back or hold a lead in the second half because there were no changes being made to the game plan. Mangini seems to be extremely adept at making those critical adjustments.
Don't forget about the crazy QB injury cloud (knock on some thick ass wood) appears to followed Herm to KC as well.
In 2004 the Jet defense shut out the opponent seven times in the second half of games. The Jets won six of those seven games when halftime adjustments were made that shout out teams in the second half, an NFL record.. What are you talking about? http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041003_NYJ@MIA http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041017_SF@NYJ http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041024_NYJ@NE http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041121_NYJ@CLE http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041128_NYJ@ARI http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041205_HOU@NYJ http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20041219_SEA@NYJ The one thing that jumps out at me is the alternative reality you live in. He's gone, he's not coming back, get over it. Posting obviously ignorant misstatement of facts is laughable.
Willie Roaf retired and the RT from last year is on a drug suspension. The starting RT is the 3rd string backup from last year and the starting LT is Kyle Turly who was out of football. Instead of perseverating on a departed coach maybe you ought to explain why the Jets offensive line is such a piss poor run blocking unit. Could it be poor coaching (gasp!) http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-RUSHING/2006/regular
No..its pretty simple..its because your lover..herm edwards..allowed the offensive line to disintegrate over the last 5 years. He lied to us..and his lover..about "leaving a team better than he found it". He left it in shambles. You havent been around since the 19th of September...after the last Jet loss...so why the change of heart. Could it be you wanted to show up before a very difficult game against the Colts so it wouldnt look so stupid showing up Monday if the Jets were to lose? I say yes..thats the reason...you are so obvious its pathetic. If the Jets win on Sunday...you would return to the shell where your other family member, champ, has been hiding since the last loss. How funny..yet disgraceful..that the two of you only show up when the Jets lose...and you call yourself a fan. Champ never had any of us fooled with his real motives..and either do you. Get on board or get a life.
You can't compare champ and this joker. He's even dropped all pretense at this point of trying to refer to himself as a Jets fan when he laces into Mangini. Check out Gator's post in the other rajensen thread for a laugh. This was the response asking what jensen used to be like in a usenet group he posted in:
3rd..you are probably right...I just never seem to see champ around much after wins..and we see him a lot more when we lose. But I do agree..this guy is on his own planet..and is truly one of the few..if not the only..wastes on this site.
Yes he was...he was on a ton after the New England game. He was on that Monday and Tuesday ripping the team apart after that game...posted a bunch of times on the 18th and 19th.
When were we blowing big leads, when did we not make adjustments? In the 2nd half of '02 we barely gave up a point in the 2nd halves of games, in '04 the same deal. We had comebacks like down 17-0 at the half in '01 when we beat miami, the Cincy game in '01 down 14-3 in the 4th qtr, at Indy in '01 and at oak '01 w/ the season on the line. In '02 we scored the last 10 against den to win that game, in '03 we were down 14-0 at hou and we won, we came back froma 2 TD deficit in the 4th qtr vs. the Giants but we lost in OT, we came back from 21-10 at Oak, we came back against jax at home, in '04 we came back at home against Buf, at Cle, in '05 came back down 28-13 in the 4th vs. SD but just fell short, came back against Buf at home. The only games we blew w/ big leads were NE '01(that was 13-0 at the half, not a huge lead), Cle '02(up 21-3). I love the new regime but let's not rewrite history b/c you don't like the last regime. If Chrebet holds onto a ball against jax last year we would have been 2-1 just like this year against a much more difficult sched. The last regime had some problems as does this regime so far(the bad penalties, the allowing other teams to comeback late, the awful D). I have high expectations for Mangini's CS, I give them a pass for some of the mistakes they have made as I feel they'll correct them but let's not make them out to be perfect.
Herm, is that you? You're a bit high-strung, aren't you? Perhaps the Jets OL can't open holes, with how many new additions, but unlike previous years, our QB isn't getting the living shit kicked out of him. Unlike Trent Green. You shouldn't point out facts for your argument, that can be used for both sides. It's just "piss-poor" debate. We now return you to our regularly scheduled program: RJ is a bone-smuggler.
I've been feeling the same thing. All off season and up through the PATS game Mangini has been touted as the next Belli but with that said, he seems more like Parcells then Belli but with Beli's quirks added in. Really he is his own raised up by these two great head coaches.
One thing, though. Jets are 2-1. KC is 0-2....and this is a big week for Jensons future on TGG. If it goes bad he'll be all over this place like flies on shit. If it goes good, he'll be on the back of a milk carton. Go Jets! Go Niners!
KC did play 2 of the top teams in the league and lost to one of them in OT. The team they lost to on the road in OT beat up the team we lost to which is the only legitimate good team we played so far.
