-Says they do follow the mock drafts online and what the writers say so they can get an idea of what to expect.
-Says he thought Lee would go to Atlanta. Once Atlanta took Neal they counted down the numbers and got the guy they wanted. Said they liked Shaq Lawson quite a bit too. A team called them to move up for the pick and they told them no that they wanted Lee.
-Tunsil was a player they considered and looked in to. They thought he was a good kid and good player.
-Hackenburg pick: Good prospect. Did some good things on tape and not good things on tape. Felt good about taking him and lots of potential on taking him. There's a maturation process. QB is one of the harder positions to transfer to. Wants him to grow and develop and mature into the position. Doesn't sound like he wants him to play early.
-Fitz: You have to work towards a goal. No feel for when it will get done. Not frustrated but wants to facilitate. Nothing done in the draft will effect him re-signing Fitz. Wants him back on the team and the locker room. If Fitz isn't resigned, plan B is most likely not on the roster. Excited to see what Geno can do coming back. Heard the retirement report. Doesn't believe it. He's been very transparent and wants him back. No leverage.
-Milliner: He's a wildcard. Gets hurt a lot. If he plays well then we can re-sign him. If not, then he can hit free agency. Injuries. Body of work.

Not a problem Petty will either be #1 or #2 this year if Fitz is not signed. But I expect Fitz back by training camp.

He mentioned that they like Bryce and his potential. Not too much.

You buried the lead a little...plan B probably not on the roster, there's a real endorsement of Geno lol

And what the hell's even left to trade for/sign? Overpay for Kaepernick?

Plan B does mean Geno. I believe that.

Of course, if that happens, Jets WILL draft high; expect franchise LT pick if that happens. The next starter [Hack or Petty] will be in good hands afterwards.

If Jets end up drafting high, don't rule out a QB depending on how they feel about Hack and Petty a year from now.

An almost unreal situation--Geno is # 1 QB NOW--If Fitz resigns, can't keep 4 QBs-- real possibility the jets keep both Petty and Hack and cut Geno. From #1 QB to unemployment based on what Fitz does.

My read on this is that Petty is now a distant fourth whether Fitzpatrick signs or not. No Fitz means another old broken down valise gets dredged from the free agent market to play behind, or in front of, Smith.

Plan B will be Geno. If everybody would just read between the lines. If he wasn't then the Jets would had sign another QB by now. So he could work with the WR's and start to build chemistry.

If there is a can't-miss QB prospect, why not? Especially if both QBs fail.

I don't think that's what he was saying. It seems mostly likely they if they sign Fitz, they will cut Geno, making Petty the #3. If they don't sign Fitz, there really isn't anyone else out there and Petty will be either #1 - #3 depending on who shows up best in camp out of Geno, Hackenburg, and Petty. At worst Petty will be #3 unless he totally shits the bed. There's just no reason to keep Geno around if they sign Fitz. He has one more year on his contract, this will be two years in a row that he hasn't played, and Jets have two QB's in development with multiple years left. Assuming Fitz gets signed, Geno is gone barring an injury or terrible showing from Hack or Petty.

I realize the OP summarized this interview and did a fine job of it...

but I really would love to see an accurate quote on this-

If Fitz isn't resigned, plan B is most likely not on the roster.

He did not say that in that way. He basically was saying im not commenting one way or the other. Thats why the OPs summary was confusing.

Put me on ignore if you can spell "ignore" and find the feature. He was the one that told us to lay off.

Another thing they could do and I read this somewhere else. Either Hackenberg or Petty could sustain an "injury" sidelining one of them for the year, if Fitzpatrick is resigned. So the depth chart would be Fitzpatrick/Geno/and either Petty or Hackenberg while the other is IR'd.
