im gonna have to catch it later on on demand. i had no idea it was on then i heard my brother cracking up in the other room for about 10 minutes before i asked what he was laughing at. so i figured id wait and see it from the begining.....
Just don't go into it thinking it's gonna be that funny. You may set your expectations too high and be let down... ...But you should enjoy it.
That's what I usually try to do, go in with low standards, but after hearing him laughing his ass off for half an hour I don't know if I can expect anything less than absolute hilarity
i wanted to like this show cause i'm a fan of jim norton on o&a and his standup but this first episode was just brutal. every hackish sitcom premise you can think of from annoying kid asking questions to married man never gets sex to racial "tension" with the neighbors was crammed into this one. complete with laugh track. hopefully the show will improve but even the profanity seemed like they were just using it because they could.
someone must've been leaning on the "applause" button then. during that opening brutally unfunny sequence with the daughter asking "why?" 20 times the "audience" was roaring with laughter after every iteration.
Soooooo funny last night. A very unique sitcom. "I'll do anything if you suck my dick once in a while."
I don't know about you, but everytime she asked "why" I felt as if a searing butter knife was being thrust into my skull.
How big of a role does Jim Norton have? I love his stand-up and I'll definitely have to check this show out.
based on last night not very large. he was in one scene that i saw but i was flipping back and forth some. "that guy" michael hagerty is another one of louies friends who was funny last night. if the show concentrated on that angle more then the home/wife/kid stuff i think it could be very funny.
I agree..except I will say one thing..the show has potential..there were a couple of lines/scenes that I cracked up over. As far as the potential thing, whenever I watch the first season of Seinfeld...I never realized how bad that season was...it was horrible. Yet the characters were good and it just needed to play out. Im going to keep watching it...just get the feeling its going to get much better.
Oh man, you're right about Seinfeld. The first season was awful but they eventually figured out what characteristics worked and what sucked. The worst were Jerry's landlords - the fat guy and spanish guy. Just god awful.
I agree it has potential, but I've gotta defend the first season of Seinfeld here. I'll allow that the pilot was pretty dire, but they turned it around quickly. Also the first "season" of Seinfeld was only 4 or 5 episodes I think and the first full season of Seinfeld was consistently excellent. I will give this show another chance though.
