Louis Riddick @LRiddickESPN 11m11 minutes ago Easy and inaccurate to simply call #Jets QB's bad. They are set up to fail. Go get some real weapons first. #Joke And Trent Dilfer again echoes what Riddick says... This team needs offensive weapons BADLY.
As of right now, it doesn't matter who the QB is for the JETS when they don't have WR's that can get separation and make plays consistently with Decker and that hamstring being a problem every week now. Marty being Marty with the play calling of run, run, and pass the ball resulting in an incomplete pass is just ridiculous and that will result in this being Rex's last season here as the coach. Idzik could have and should have been more aggressive and gone after Emmanuel Sanders and Brandon Flowers harder during free agency but the JETS just are happy with the 21 million in cap space, for goodness sake.
Only the WR's without Decker are weak. The other skill positions are serviceable. In fact, 3 weeks ago the Jet RB's were touted as the best in the league. Its the Offensive line. Its been horrible. An absolute turnstile, Winters in particular. They make our good RB squad look mediocre, our mediocre QB's look bad and our WR's/TE's look like they should be playing in JUCO.
Yup. Not just about weapons but pass protection too. Marty has a say in the talent brought in the last 2 years too and we have drafted 4 guards in the past 2 years and have Brian Winters as the LG and protecting the blindside of our opening day QB.
Soooooo we start a thread to say Louis Riddick just figured out what a lot of us knew before the season started.
Decker is good we've moved the chains more this year because of him solely. But that's where it pretty much ends. Cumberland has done nothing and is average at best. Nelson is slow and isn't anything more then a depth guy. Kerley is solid but a bit overrated to be brutally honest. We need 2 receivers who can get this shit right. It seems like every off-season we can't do that for some reason.
People say get some receivers, what about the O line? Do people realize that you need to protect the QB in order to throw the ball? You can give Geno Dez, Green, Welker and Gronkowski, if your O line sucks, those guys won't mean shit. Does Geno suck? Yes but what if he has an O line and a few weapons? He doesn't need to be elite, he just needs to keep the chains moving and its hard to do that with a shit O line and no weapons. But to some here i'm just a giants fan so what the fuck do i know right? I DO know that NO QB can be successful in this league without an O line. Look at Brady. I also know that the HC needs to take control and disclipine his guys. Call people out, scream at people. Let them know they are playing like shit. Bench people. You can't be buddy buddy with your players all the time because then it gets put in your ass and your left looking like a clown. Before the Jets win anything, they need to rebuild the O line and try to get a few weapons in the process but the O line is fuckin huge in the NFL. People want a WR in the 1st round but they can't even block their QB to give him time to throw. Draft a WR and then when Geno or whoever is QB can't get the ball to him because he is too bust getting chased out of the pocket all day, then what? Patriots and Colts were powerhouses because they had a style and they PROTECTED their QB. Pats trade away Mankins and they look pretty bad because of it. Jets need to pick a new HC, new OC and new DC, stick to a gameplan, rebuild the O line and they will be in business. Jets aren't cursed, they aren't jinxed, they need to stop fuckin around and build a football team the right way. Win in the trenches and you win the superbowl. Period
It's becoming evident that as bad as Hill might have been he'd still be the #3 or 4 receiver on this team.
Amaro must continue to develop, I have faith he can be answer there at TE. Decker and JK are a start at WR, but more is needed. forget number 1 or number 2, thats bullshit, TALENT. Proven talent. its needed. Ivory's an awesome runner, Johnson is pedestrian overall, Powell can probably replace him for less if need be. next offseason should be interesting, it'd be nice to get the best Receiver in the market again with all the money we've saved. rookie might not pan out the way we want (i.e., immediate positive results) but that wouldn't be an awful option either.
