lets not be like the Eagles Westbrook then draft Moats.....
thank god they kept Buckhalter but they had to keep him cause they needed a big back. If we are going to draft a back in the later rnds it will be a bigger back(but someone who is versitile can catch balls out of the backfield and so forth)

I know I know, I just think he'll be a good value pick and you hate to see that get by.

Why would you want the back that Leon beat out.

They went to school at the same year, and although Booker was ranked ten times higher, Leon beat him out.

I don't know, I watched a lot of the FSU games and they both seemed to play a lot. Seems like its similar circumstances where its a talented back on a bad team w/ a bad 0-line and crappy o-coordinator.

Doesn't seem like Leon "beat him out". I got this from the FSU site that I included the link to.

Junior Year (2005): Enjoyed an impressive junior campaign despite splitting carries with senior Leon Washington...led the Seminoles in rushing seven times and recorded the team's only 100-yard rushing game of the season, a 112-yard effort against Clemson...led all Florida State backs with more than 40 carries in rushing attempts (119), yards (552), yards per rush (4.6), rushing yards per game (42.5), and rushing touchdowns (4)...

Booker has happy feet and doesn't hit the hole as hard as he should. Not really crazy about getting another RB that just doesn't seem like he can take the pounding of 20+ carries. We already have Leon.

I always thought Booker was the more explosive back, but Leon was the starter.

Leon got the majority of the carries, and Booker was often used as a receiver/3rd down back. That being said they're awfully similiar backs, and FSU used both backs absolutely horrible.

Exactly... They are similar backs and Leon beat him out and would clearly do it again. We would be better served drafting a big RB, depth at LB, FB, or a G with the pick it would take to get Booker.

fsu fan here. leon did not beat booker out. as a matter of fact, when booker joined the noles, he beat out leon as the starting back his freshman year when leon was a sophomore.
the rest of the way, they pretty much split time. that's pretty much how the noles have always done it going back well before warrick dunn.
not at all trying to dis leon, but booker is also not all that small. there are a number of 5'11" feature backs out there...one of whom will be retiring soon as the jets leading rusher of all time, and #5 all time in the nfl.
i'm also not necessarily saying he's the right fit for the jets considering our personell, but whoever does end up with him late on day one, will be getting a back with a huge amount of potential and may become a VERY good back in the nfl. and btw, he also rarely if ever got injured in college, never missing any substantial amount of game time.

My impression - and I'm not a Noles fan, so i don't know for usre - was that Booker was a prized recruit so they gave him every chance possible to beat out Leon, but he could never do it. I do know this: no, I don't want him on our team.

Booker is 5-11, so he's not small in stature. But he might be 195, so he's pretty small for his size.

I bet Leon is stronger than him.

thats what I tried to explain to someone. Leon runs 10 times tougher than Booker.

Bookers athleticism is amazing but hes more of a 3rd down back then Leon is if your talking pro potential. if antyhing booker could be a dynamic slot reciever too.

he has potential but he needs to put on 15 lbs and learn how to run in between the tackles.

thank you, some of the people don't know what they're talking about here. i included the link and this quote in another post that booker "led all Florida State backs with more than 40 carries in rushing attempts (119), yards (552), yards per rush (4.6), rushing yards per game (42.5), and rushing touchdowns (4)..." for 2005, which was the last year leon and booker played together and people still are saying that leon beat him out - not true. Maybe we should see the Giants take Booker w/ a 4th rounder and then we get to watch him play for them, or maybe even the Pats, that would be just great.

I thought Booker looked excellent in the bowl game, the only FSU game I saw all year and I think he has the ability to be a featured back in the league somewhere. I would not mind taking him but probably wouldn't target him.

this guy is going to be a 4th or 5th rnder, your right on that unless he really sucks in the combine....
and stats mean nothing for the draft. nobody has ran a 40 yet? or had a combine yet?
plus they havent played the Sr bowl yet
wait have they had an interview yet? NOPE
Anything can happen, shit a person who participated in this thread almost has the same chance as booker getting drafted 1st rnd
