I particularly like this short blurb in how it mentions Sanchez's playoff performance. Sanchez did have an up-and-down rookie year, but I too see the AFC Championship game as his coming out game. He played AWESOME in that game for a rookie. This season I am sure he will have some rough moments but on the whole I predict a very solid season out of him. On the other hand, I cannot wait until the season starts so we can see the REAL Chad Henne. This guy started out well at Michigan and then became a real BUM over time and I expect a similar career in Miami. I am so tired of all the media hooplah about this guy. Rex's defense was caught off guard by the wildcat, then embarrassed by Miami's Special teams last year, but things will be differant this year - I expect a sweep of the Dolphags and our top defense to expose who Henne really is!
Gunna be pissed? lol I think arguments could be made for both sides. I've seen articles saying Henne is ahead of Sanchez too. Henne had a better regular season than Sanchez... and I'm not sure that can be argued. Henne had the same amount of TDs and 6 less INTs and a much better completion percentage... even though he had almost 90 more attempts. And Henne didnt have NEAR the weapons, especially down the stretch, that Sanchez had, especially in terms of red zone targets. But Sanchez was able to play pretty well in the playoffs. Henne didnt get those extra 3 games to show what he could do in the playoffs. If you want to put a ranking of Sanchez currently ahead of Henne, b/c he got to play in the playoffs and played pretty solid for a young QB, sure thats fine. It wont mean anything once the season starts though. We are going to find out this year who is better. The success of both of our teams is going to ride on our young QBs. We've put the needed pieces around them. Now its time for them to sink or swim...
Henne didn't get a chance to show what he's got in the extra three games? He blew the last three, most important games of the season. Sanchez thrived in his last three, most important games of the season. I'm not saying you can draw any conclusions based on that, but let's not act like Henne showed any signs of doing what Sanchez already did in the postseason.
Henne had some impressive games last year, including against the vaunted Jet defense. Round 2 last year he was particularly impressive in. Sanchez was as well, but Henne got the ball last. There's almost no question that Henne will be better this year than last year, for one simple reason. They added Brandon Marshall. He had a couple reliable targets last year, but none with anything approaching Marshall's talent. The Jets secondary is loaded with talent, but Henne's arm and Marshall's athleticism make the Dolphins a great matchup for the Jets. I think most people would agree with this guy's assessment of that ranking though. There's a reason Sanchez was the fifth pick in the draft. We saw it on and off through the 09 season, and we got a great look at it against the Colts. He's a natural, his mechanics are flawless, and he's shown an ability to improvise that you wouldn't expect from somebody still adjusting to an NFL offense and NFL speed. I have to go back to what Rex Ryan said at some point last year, the day is going to come when Sanchez is the best thing we've got going, and it could be sooner rather than later. Henne's got talent, he just doesn't seem to be as good a football player.
Henne wasnt the reason why we lost those games... Our defense allowed an average of 20pts in the first half of those 3 games... forcing us to play from behind in all 3. Our defense blew the last 3 games... not Henne. Not to mention he didnt even play the 2nd half of the Steelers game. And Henne led multiple game winning drives last season... so to say he didnt show any signs of that is ridiculous... But I think both are good young talented QBs... and should add some fuel to the fire of our rivalry for years to come...
Unfortunately, I think Henne will be a good / solid QB. He did show some flashes at times (with shitty receivers) and like Sanchez, looked shitty at times. Not a level comparison with Sanchez as henne got to sit and "learn" for a season, while Sanchez was thrown into the fire after starting just 16 games in college. That's why I think Sanchez has the higher ceiling, and "moxie" The kid's performance elevated when the stakes were high.
LOL! Hope you didn't get too attached. From my understanding, they fitted him with a new helmet towards the end of last season that no longer gives him the forehead vagina. A shame... I know, lol.
Henne did have an advantage of having a year to sit and learn... but Sanchez had the advantage of being annointed the starter during training camp... which gave him 50% of the reps with the starters for the first half during the QB "competition"... and pretty much 100% of the reps for the 2nd half of training camp, getting a ton of work to get him ready for the season. On the other hand, Henne barely got any reps with the 1's, and not near as much work in general, as Pennington was being prepared to be the starter. Being thrown in to a starters role after the season starts is much harder than getting the work and reps while being prepared to be the starter during camp. So, I think it is a level comparison, since both had advantages over the other. Not to mention the massive advantage Sanchez had in terms of weapons to throw to vs Ted Ginn, lol. I think the playing field will now be level between the 2 for this season. Both have about a full year under their belt, both will have 100% of training camp as the starter, and both now have some weapons to throw to. We'll get to see who is better this season. Should be fun to watch!
I'm not bashing Henne, but it also could be argued Sanchez had a better season than Henne also. Especially when the season ended. 1st year kid played extremely well in the playoffs, and that is a ton of pressure. Pressure mainly because his play is magnified by 10000 compared to every other player on the roster. -------------------- edit also I dont understand why Dolphin fans say Henne could of been better, because he has shitty wrs? In other threads most phin fans want to say Bess, Hartline, and all those guys are really good, and then they go on to say they have the best OLine in the NFL. Some Phin fans come here to say Hartline, or Bess whatever is better then Cotchery, but then they say Henne could of done better, because there WR unit is awful. dunno confusing.
If we win a Super Bowl under the Sanchez era Henne can break every freakin record there is for all I care-
Henne probably will put up better numbers, especially since he has Marshall. But, maybe Sanchez's numbers will see an increase too with the addition of LT, Holmes and McKnight. Also, depending on the transition to a new LG, we may be forced to pass more. Having said that, I would take Sanchez as the leader of my team, with his intangibles and now playoff experience. However Sanchez did crumble a few times in the regular season when we needed 6 at the end. It depends on if he is Sanchez from the playoffs and no moment is too big. Quarter 4 magic is how I'll judge their improvement.
