Who do you want to win ths week's game, Jags or Pats? The Pats? Gives a legitimate shot at the division. The Jags?- Gives us a better shot for the Wildcard.
I am not giving the option of tie b/c we know that will never happen. We have to root really hard for the Colts tonight.
We cannot win the division. NE clinced the AFC East with their win. You cannot root for a Pats loss here as we need help to make the playoffs and the Jags have to lose since they have the head to head win vs. the Jets.
I believe you are wrong. If the jets win their final 2 and the pats lose their final 2 then the jets win the division. Can someone post if this is true or not. Wouldn't the jets get the tiebreaker if they both finish 10-6?
NE did NOT clinch the division. If the Jets finish 10-6 and the Pats finish 10-6, The Jets would win the east with a better conference record.
TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in common games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
I know the tiebreaker comes down to commons games played, and then conference record. Assuming they both finish 10-6, who has the better record in commons games played? I would just like to point out that the common games tiebreaker is what gave us the division title over the Pats in 02.
lol why is this here? what are the chances of the pats dropping 2 in a row? they win they clinch. theyll be out for blood. so will jax, but I see the pats winning
I'd much rather a win and your in scenario the final weekend at home against Oak than relying on the Pats to lose to Tenn in a make or break game for themselves.. Errr Go Pats!
Yes. They would be both 4-2 in the Division. Both 5-3 in common games.(not involving the division teams..than it would be both at 9-5). So it goes to Conference, and the Jets would be 7-5 in the AFC. The Pats would be 6-6. Jets win!
they don't have 12 games in common really. They have 8. You don't count division games b/c they obviously have the same record in the division if it comes down to this tiebreaker. I believe if they both finish 10-6 they are both 5-3 in common games. Therefore, the jets would win the tiebreaker based on a better conference record of jets 7-5 and pats 6-6.
I was in the Pats lose to give the Jets a shot at the division title (and a home game) camp last night but watching Hermie's wormies lose has changed that. Now the Jets really need a Jacksonville loss coupled with a Cincinnati win against Denver to give them their best shot at the playoffs.
