Ive had enough of the Chad crap. "Now we have a line....blah....blah.." Chad is done. He thinks he can be a starter some where else, so hes not gonna restructure. The guy cant throw a 10 yard out. Coles is unhappy, and Cotch thrives with Clemens(fact) Clemens is the guy, and bring in a draft pick(Henne would be nice) to compete. Ill be shocked if Chad is here on opening day. Thanks for the memories#10 but say on the bench and waive that towel.
You want Chad supporters to disappear because you're sick of hearing what they have to say, so you throw out some bait to bring them out into the open. Thats pure brilliance man.
While Clemens will probably be the starting QB - lets face it Tangini is going to give him every opportunity possible in the Spring and in Camp - Chad MUST remain with the Jets. Every team needs two NFL proven QB's, and when you have a young 2nd year QB, you most definitely need a veteran that can tutor the young guy. Chad is our answer to a QB coach. Regardless of his lack of arm strength Chad knows how to read a defense, better than most NFL QB's. IMO his INT rate has gone up with the lack of protection and his attempts to force throws that he normally would not make.. Would you rather have Kitna, Harrington, Lemon (et al.) assisting Clemens on how to read a defense and decipher (sp?) the various zone blitzing schemes and differnet defensive fronts that are thrown at a QB?? I'm sure that would work well... How about Flacco, Ryan, Johnson, and all the other kids in this years draft. Think they know how to read an NFL defense?? Let's take a breath and understand why Chad is going to be A Jet this year. 1. There are no better veteran options in the Free Agent Market, that could come in and start - if in fact Clemens doesnt start this year. 2. Regardless of what the fan base thinks the Jets organization and especially the players seem to rally around Chad's leadership. 3. If Clemens does start Chad is the best option out there - unless a true QB coach is brought in to tutor Clemens.
Honestly, I used to find these threads so depressing. Now I feel kind of elated. Because we've fixed the line, guys! It doesn't matter, Chad or Kellen. The quarterback position is incredibly overrated. Either of those guys will get the job done with our dynamic duo receivers behind our stellar offensive line. Let me say that again: "our stellar offensive line." Ahhh, God that feels good. Chad or Kellen? I could care care less. Good hunting to the both of them. Enjoy the season, half-emptys!
Yea or maybe he could use his talents and launch a reality show during the upcoming football season. It could be titled "How I fooled the NFL into thinking that I was a starting quarterback"
I agree. Chad is are best option and to trade him now would be nice for the picks, but risky for the overall picture next year. With the money this franchise just spent, they are serious about making a push for the playoffs. Keeping Chad gives us the best options available. Chad was horrible last year because everyone around him could not perform. Clemens was no better. Now I know all about Chad's limitations, but he does have some strengths too. If Chad were to be our QB next year then he should be able to do infinitely better than last year. If that is not the case; then no excuses. I actually think Clemens should beat out Chad if Clemens continues to grow in the mental part of the game and I am all for it, but if Clemens looks bad in pre-season then why would we start him?
While I have no doubt that Chad's a smart guy in some respects, I don't want him working with our young QBs on the mental aspect of the game... This past season we saw rookie and second year CBs reading Chad's body language and eyes like a book, and jumping routes all over the place. He was making TERRIBLE decisions and did very little. even when he had time, to keep the secondary on its heels.... I already saw once or twice last season Clemens try that garbage three step drop, plant, cock your shoulder and wait a 1/2 second before throwing the OUT route, and it worried me to no end... The last thing we need is our young QB picking up some of these terrible habits that, along side further and further deteriorating arm strength, have led to Chad's demise....
Chad will not sit on the bench and be a happy camper as a coach collecting a paycheck. He wants to start and him and his 4 Million of salary should be jettisoned as soon as possible!
I was hoping this thread was about the people who are still not happy that our team is spending money and trying to bring in better talent. There is even one that expresses joy that Asante was not foolish enough to accept the richest contract in NFL defensive history!!. This is the type of madness that needs to stop. No one is over paying for anyone!! Period! If you think the contracts are exorbitant, you have to realize that that's what it takes in a market economy to get that commodity. If the offers for Faneca, Woody Jenkins and Pace were less, they would not be on our roster presently. Some other team would have paid them more! So what have we learned! None of us here is a GM (we except the moderator, GM) and none of us would have been happy to hear that the Jets were interested in these people but thought the price was too high. We would be still sitting on one of the lesser talented rosters in the league, but at least we would not have over spent??
OK we let Chad go....Who is the back-up?? Harrington? Culpepper? Oh wait let's bring in Tim Couch he's available.....He could be go to Yankee games duing the week and hang out with Freido Pettite.... A team does not spend the amount of $ we just did and leave the QB position in the hands of a developing QB, with a journeyman QB as a back-up - that have proven absoloutely nothing in their NFL careers and have nbever provided anythtoihng of worth to their temamates..Chad has gone to the playoffs a couple of times. HE ahs the respect of the verterans on the team...
yeah Chad Pennington sucks....he's never done anything in football and never will. All the ex-players and coaches (especially ex-QBs) that analyse the game know nothing....far less than us message board posters, that's for sure!!
I've gotta think you pulled for the Jets in 2002 and the following years when Chad was at the helm. Man you should be ashamed of yourself! You ain't no Jet fan.
The following years? You mean his one pretty good season ('04) when he still missed some time? He had 2002 when he was a very, very good starting QB. After that, the best he showed was 'above average' for spurts in 2004, and since then, he's been down right bad....
Your kidding right? How about leading us to the brink of the chamionship game until Doug Brien fu**ed things up? How about being thrown to the wolves by that clown Herm when he was hardly fit enough to play at the start of 05 season and then returning to win "comeback player of the year"? The point this guy was making was Chad was never good enough for the NFL- sad.
^ Yeah – well…the pimp hand has been cocked and is ready. I hate to have it come to a message board shanking but I will get medieval.
