This is just hypothetical. A friend of mine follows mock drafts and he is saying that the Jets could potentially be interested in Kirk Cousins (QB-Michigan State) as a second-round pick. Does anyone think that the Jets would go this route for a second-rounder? He seems to be a good leader and should fit in well with the offensive system with NY.
If we drafted this guy, unless he turns into a top 10 QB I would want everyone on the coaching staff involved with this pick fired. Because it imo would be a complete fucktard move
Don't know the kid but most ppl on TGG have listed a back up QB to push Mark as a hole to fill. Don't know if this should come from the draft or a vet, but no one's gonna push for a starting role harder than a rookie. And if we're starting with a 'brand new playbook' that's run oriented than maybe Mark won't have any distinct advantage over a 2nd round QB coming in and gunning for his job.
GTFO of here with this nonsense. There is ZERO chance that Cousins will be drafted in the 2nd round by the NYJ.
Only chance we draft a rookie is if we sign Manning and cut Sanchez (which I think is highly unlikely). It would be the only way a move like this would make sense really. If that scenario doesnt play out and we ended up taking a QB, in let alone the 2nd round, I would be pissed. Better off signing a Vet FA.
No. First off Kirk Cousins isn't even a 2nd round pick unless you are desperate for a QB. We need a vet to push Sanchez not another rookie. I think he will be a solid career back up QB but it makes zero sense to take a guy so high you have no intention to start. We have too many holes.
I like Cousins but I think he will be available later on ... plus i doubt he will be best player available in the second
Cousins is a good prospect, and I wouldn't mind the Jets taking him if still he's available in the 5th or 6th round, but not in the 2nd. I'd be surprised if he's rated or goes that high. I think the idea that the Jets need to bring in a QB to push Sanchez is absurd. No one does that. All that would create would be a QB controversy. If Sanchez struggled early or had a bad stretch, fans would be shouting for the backup. Sanchez works hard. He wants to succeed. He doesn't need another QB to push him. A veteran QB would be preferable, but I'm not sure they can afford one. They need to get a veteran S and RT. I think they'll probably draft a QB somewhere in the 5th or 6th round and make McElroy the #2.
