Says the ELITE prospects are Bush, Leinart, Mario, Brick and Hawk. Thinks the Saints may take Brick second and not trade the pick to ensure they get him. If this is the case the Titans will obviously take Leinart and make the "big splash." Not to much new stuff here, but I felt like hearing some of your guys opinions, guesses, whatever on what the Saints will do with that #2 pick now. Mortensen had earlier reported that he feels the Saints will do everything they can to trade the pick and that anyone who wants Leinart will move up. So when its all said he done, he still feels Leinart will be the #2 pick. Lots of opinions flying around on 1050, I CANT WAIT anymore, the draft must come.
Yea, i feel the same way. I guess there is some opposition in New Orleans, they prolly feel the Titans could grab him at three.
Kiper was just giving his own opinion. He has no idea what the Saints brain trust is thinking...it is possible they will stay and take Brick, but I see them trading out.
Why not? The kid has proven himself to be an accurate passer and a running threat. If we can't get Leinart, he seems right
Not that I don't like him, but I don't think he is Mangini's type of QB. Like I said, its not that I don't like him. I just feel like Mangini would prefer a traditional pocket passer.
I sure hope we dont trade up to the #2 spot. It would cost way too much for a 2 spot move. Let the other teams play NO's game. There will still be a stud available for us at #4.
MY feeling is that Mangini would prefer a guy who's proven to be a winner, and will bring with him a high team confidence level. Young had that Longhorn team knowing they were the best in the country, even when no one else did. And MSUJet, the Saints have Charles Grant and Will Smith, they really don't need another DE (esp. another first rounder), even with Howard departing.
I don't like Young's potential in the NFL, and I really don't think Mangini will take him either. Young like Vick is a player you need to customize you offense to fit, the Falcons haven't done this and have suffered for it. I really don't think Mangini wants to build his offense around the talents and weaknesses of one player. It is a dumb thing to do unless your backup QBs are in the same mold too.
No they won't, they let Howard go to open up a spot for Will Smith, their 1st round pick a couple of years ago. On the other side they have Charles Grant, another young, very good DE. I see them taking Hawk, they really, really need an OLB.
That's my feeling as well. Especially considering last year they passed on the top LB (DJ) for an Offensive Tackle (RT Jamaal Brown), they wouldn't really do it again would they? (even though I hear Brown was very effective on most accounts)
