So far I'm impressed with Croyle. Miami's D needs major improvement. I hate these announcers. Well, not Jaws but he can't get a freaking word in edge wise. I doubt Larry Johnson is coming backany time soon.
Which team just has that 5th round kicker that pulls like crazy? Cause they are screwwwwd this season. I know it was one of these two teams. Green looked like a vet but was off-target with his throws. A lot were low (could be worse, Huard was consistently firing high) but they were damn pretty which makes em' easier to catch should the receivers get a hand on them.
It is amazing how quickly Herm has run that team into the ground. When he bailed on us experts said it was the best job available in the NFL. I think from that group it has to be near the bottom, except for maybe the GB job.
Green did throw low a few times but his receivers weren't catching the ball. That offense is screwed.
Yes. Yes it is. I do recall one good catch on I think it was a dig . . . Low but the receiver slid and got it. Beck looked great in the pocket and throwing, he just has to work on his reads. Hamdan also made some amazing handoffs. Wait, that's all he did.
I wouldn't put too much into the performances of the KC offense/Miami D since Taylor, Thomas and Porter all sat out.
Yeah, you have to assume Miami's defense will be very solid once again this year. They'll fold in critical spots like usual though. That said, their offense is going to be awful this year. Green is just washed up, he was awful last year, and with that line protecting him will be lucky to survive the mid-way point. It's also clear they are going to desperately miss the wife beater [Randy McMichael]. As for Ted Ginn Jr... I thought he had bust written all over him before the draft, still see no reason why to change my mind. I'm not sure if his injury was affecting him tonight or what, but where is the lateral quickness? As for KC's offense? It's been going down hill for years, which is understandable after being on top for so long. Losing Roaf, then Shields, average WR's, and no stability at the QB position does not bode well. An aging but still good Gonzo, and of course LJ are the only saving graces. Like someone already said, these are two 6-10 teams. Nothing more.
FYP! I know it is the pre-season but both teams were as limp as a eunuch at a Virgin convention. One thing that struck me is how poor both their special teams are. Maybe it is just me but I am really encouraged by seeing that part of the game and thinking how the Jets match up with both teams there. I really think this part of the game will really propel the Jets ahead in many close matchups. This game was a typical preseason snoozefest. Thank god I saw it at a wing house and I could at least look at some pretty women.
Miami's defense will be good as always..Whether or not they can get their offense going is yet to be seen. I knew Herm would run KC into the soil.. but I didn't think it'd happen this fast, what a mess that team is going to be this season.
Miami's O-line is dreadful. Ronnie Brown is a very good back, but he's being wasted down there with that line.
They'll be solid, and if they end up folding remains to be seen. Personally, I think D. Capers has this defense playing at a higher level than they were a year ago. There's more youth being infused as well... While I agree that the Phinz OL needs a lot of work, and that it could be an issue this year, I don't think Green is washed up. If he gets time to throw, he can still get the job done. He may look alittle rusty right now being the pre-season, but I think he'll settle in and improve once he gets more familiar with what the OL can / can't do for him..... RB R. Brown had a very nice outting despite our OL woes. He's running hard, and I think as long as he stays healthy, he'll have a nice chance to surpass his 2006 numbers. He looks ready to go right now.... You're joking right?? McMike was decent, but he wasn't anything special. He fumbled a lot, and he wasn't known to be much of a blocker during his time here. I wish him the best in St. Louis, but I don't miss him... TE's D. Martin / C. Anderson will fight it out for the starting job, and I'm sure within Cameron's TE friendly system both will get their chances. I'm not sure what game you were watching last night, but both of them had catches that lead to points.... How can you call someone who hasn't played one regular season game a bust?? That's a bold statement considering he's only a rookie.... Nobody knows for sure why, but trust me, we're wondering the same thing down here too. Those of us who are fortunate enough to attend training camp have seen the lateral quickness you speak of, but for some reason he hasn't shown it during the pre-season yet. Who knows, maybe he's just waiting for that one perfect opportunity....
No, I'm confident he's washed up, and no amount of practice and system acclimation will change this fact. He doesn't look rusty, he looks just about as he did last year. He's playing without confidence. It's like Kurt Warner post-concussion syndrome all over again. He's lost his edge, and although I cannot conclusively prove this yet, come back here in a month or two, and I'll happily eat crow if I turn out to be dead wrong. I didn't get to touch on him last night, so here goes. Ronnie Brown ran well, but he's definitely going to have to prove himself before I start to give him any accolades, horrendous oline performance aside, running through a swiss cheese defense like the Chiefs would have been much more impressive, if he didn't already do this in past seasons. We know Ronnie Brown has talent, but NFL RB's are all about consistency, and dependability. Two things which Brown has never proven to be. Also please tell me Cam is not seriously considering making Brown his permanent KR? No I'm not joking, but I do think you are out of your mind by down playing McMichael's talent. Take it from a guy who roots for a team that hasn't had a TE in decades worth mentioning. He was a Jets killer, put up very solid numbers year in and year out, on some pretty awful offenses. So what if he was an average blocker? No question he was a weapon, and one that will be missed if you're going to be counting on a guy who's never proven to have anything more than backup talent [Martin], and let's be honest a nobody in Anderson, who if you thought Randy was bad at blocking, just wait until you need to rely on Anderson to hold a block. This was nothing personal against the Fins, I just never liked the kid. He's always been injury prone. And I never liked him as a receiver in Ohio State.
I've always liked Brown and Chambers, but that Dolphins offense looks like it's going to be pretty bad this year. Green looks well past his prime, the O-Line is very shaky and Martin's a terrible TE. I think they still have enough talent on D to be a 6 or 7 win team, but it's hard to see them going very far.
I guess Cameron doesn't agree. He thinks Green has what it takes to manage the game well, and put our offense in position to score more points on offense this year. Although I'm not overly excited about Green starting in Miami this year, I am satisfied with him starting until QB J. Beck is ready to take over... Besides, Green will be a good mentor / teacher for Beck as well. I'm much more comfortable with Green showing Beck the ropes than I would have been with Culpepper... Nobody down here is expecting a Pro Bowl season from an old veteran like Green, but if he can just play smart / within his abilities, and not try and force too much, I think he should have a decent season. Again, a lot of this does depend on the Phinz OL. If it folds like a cheap tent, the Phinz offense will continue to struggle... He may not be the Green of old anymore, but we don't need him to be that kind of QB either. We all know he's not going to be breaking any passing records in Miami. We do believe however, that as long as he manages his game well and plays smart while getting comfortable with the players around him, he should have a decent enough season. We don't expect the playoffs with Green, but we do expect to eventually see a respectable offense under Cameron.... That's cool. I didn't like Ginn on draft day either. He hasn't done much to change that opinion at this stage, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now... He should make an impact on offense sooner or later. If not, then Cameron will have to live with it, and face the ridicule for it as well. He's only a rookie though, and it may take longer for him to adjust than some intially expected. Personally, I'm not in any hurry for him to explode onto the scene, he still has a lot to learn right now as far as I'm concerned....
