he was brought in as a unsigned draftable earlier, but looks like he was signed to a deal today.had 17 career interceptions at iowa,2 shy of heisman winner nile kinnick.started for 3 years.returned punts while the regular was injured ,taking the first 95 yards for a score.he is a lot better than darrien johnson, the current jet db and former hawkeye.
5'8" yes but jumps very well.played against braylon edwards, santonio holmes,etc...so he's pretty experienced against good sized wr's
Johnson, 5-9, 180 pounds, is a rookie free agent from the University of Iowa. The native of Erie, Pa., ranks third on Iowa’s all-time career interceptions list with 17, one shy of the school record. He also led the Big Ten in 2005 with a 17.4 punt return average and ranks second in school annals in passes defensed with 32. from one of the reports today There's a new DB in camp he wore #4 don't know his name. He's a short guy has a Mickens build
In the mold of Arron Glenn? Hey....remember when we drafted Glenn he was also like the best punt returner in the nation so we put him back there and he fumbled like his first 300 punts. And then that white DB from the Giants got creamed (by the Jets?) returning punts so that was the end of Glenns punt return days as well. Then we sent Glenn and that other DB packing to the Texans. I remember when Parcells but that other DB in for a Hail Mary against the bills and he out leaped everyone in the back of the endzone for 6. I think that was the last play of the half. blah blah blah OK I'm rambling. Good nite now.
Interesting, last year we had another DB from Iowa in camp with the last name Johnson, but it was Darrien last year.
...Jason Seahorn (terrible shame by the way, ruined his career)..........Marcus Coleman (awesome play by the way, miracles were all Vinny was good for)...any one else notice when Vinny played that year that we would somehow win against the top teams with miracle plays while losing time of possession by like half and then everyone would think we were starting something and we'd get shut out by a basement team? Such is the life of a Jet fan.
