Posted this in the BS forum because it would go unrecognized in the Baseball Forum

Sad he was so young and not to far removed from the MLB. Even though I was a Yankee fan I loved him as a player. RIP Jose Lima. [IMG]

Yeah, but non-baseball fans don't know or don't care about Jose Lima, so it belongs in baseball.

Wow, shocking. Lima Time no more...

37 is obviously way too young to die. I wonder if it will turn out that he had an enlarged heart that he didn't know about, or something like that - a massive heart attack at his age would probably either come from that, or something more sinister (e.g., drug use).

    RIP.

Lima time no more.....this is some sad news. For some reason I had a thinking that he was in his mid-40s by now, but goddam he was only 37....RIP.

Lima time forever.... I was one of his biggest detractors while he was playing in Houston. I thought he was a douche bag that had no respect for the game or his opponents and I hated all the numbers he would write all over his hat. All show no go.

Then I saw him come in to Shea for a weekend set against the Mets and this guy was out there during warm ups signing everything. He climbed over the wall into the stands and walked around for at least an hour, meeting anybody and everybody that walked up to him. He was by far the most accessible player I have ever seen... and for that reason he won my respect.

RIP Jose Lima (Time) and your Genital Warts.

I met him some years back when he was with the Stros. He was a very nice guy and the best part about him was that he had on a pin-stripped lime green suit. Sad to see somebody so young die. To tag onto what Jeff said my initial thought was drug use. He had his great years at the height of steroid use but for his family I hope it was something medical related like an enlarged heart.

If it is steroid related you'd have to wonder if MLB players from the mid 90's on will start going the way of the old WWF guys.
