Joe McKnight fails conditioning test. I give Jets fans 3 games before they really miss Leon Washington.

Should probably wait for the details before skewering the guy. But if its as simple as him being out of shape, he's going to have a flame under his ass if/when he makes it to camp.

"FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Joe McKnight cited the heat, a possible stomach virus and nerves as reasons for another difficult day of practice at New York Jets rookie minicamp.

But there was a more plausible reason to come.

The fourth-round pick needed wet towels and breaks in the morning, and dropped at least four passes in one drill. After a more successful late-afternoon practice on the grass field, McKnight admitted his fitness level wasn't what it needed to be.

Joe McKnight's first two days as a Jet have been memorable -- for the wrong reasons.

"I'm not in good shape right now," said McKnight, who at one moment was crouched under the uprights as trainers poured water over his head. "I'm in OK shape, but not the best. I could be better."

He said that he was going to see if it's possible to stay around Florham Park for a few extra days, to work out and prove to the coaches that he has the drive and stamina to be a productive running back when the season comes around. "

Wonder if he ever stuck around to get back in shape as he stated above?:eek:hmy:

You'd think the first time the lesson would have stuck.

My friend knew him at USC and said he was just a huge pot head.

    what the fuck?!

this guy spouted the same excuses when he barfed his brains out during rookie mini camp back in May.

I understand his potential in this offense has a high ceiling....but this is TWICE now he's shown up out of shape and unprepared. Schotty better have a little chat with McKnight.

He should pass it in the next couple of days. So all it really means is that he is slacking

I'm not positive but I think that article was from the first incident you are referring too.

I don't think he's had a chance to make his second round of excuses. Machjet was posting what happened after minicamp

The article I posted was from the first incident. I was just pointing out the underlined sentence, where he said he wanted to stay behind to work out and get in shape. Which apparently he didn't do or if he did, he just didn't do enough.

We have heard of other Jets staying in the facility to continue working out, such as Vlad.

Well that sucks. I'm interested in knowing what the pass/fail criteria is for his Conditioning Test. Obviously, he's not in NFL shape, which he himself admitted.

On the bright side, at least he has enough ambition that he wants to try to show the coaches that he can improve his fitness. On the dimmer side, will he really be able to improve this crucial aspect of the game within a month?
