...and it looks like no one noticed. The two time Pro Bowler who made the difference in the Jets win over the Oakland Raiders at the end of 1968 and put more points on the board than the Baltimore Colts in winning the only big title for the Jets passed away on June tenth of heart failure in Colorado at the age of 82. Thank you, Jim.

Nobody wrote about it here. Kind of surprising when all kinds of B list, or worse, "celebrities" that have nothing to do with the Jets always seem to get a mention.

RIP Jim Turner. Condolences to your family and friends.

It certainly does seem that we are losing quite a few.

I noticed. And I immediately thought of Champ, who infamously proclaimed that Curley Johnson was the kicker in SBIII. Which was hilariously wrong. But that was ok, because we were all still shuffling along on this mortal coil -- Johnson, Turner, Champ, and the rest of us.

But now, I strongly suspect, it's just the rest of us.

I read about it a few days ago and had a conversation with my dad about it. It made him quite sad. I hadn't even noticed that it hadn't been mentioned here until just now. RIP Jim Turner

Buncha assholes spent the last week arguing over what the official name Super Bowl 3 was. Easy to miss the trivial stuff

One of the last great non soccer style field goal kickers. His last FG in the Super Bowl was a 9 yard kick off to the right side. The goal posts at the time were on the goal line. Not an easy kick.

I live in CO and met Jim Turner twice. Great guy. One time in grocery store. I had jets stuff on and he came up and said he was going back for Super Bowl 3 reunion. Said he loved that Jets team but really couldn’t say that living in Denver. Second time I saw him was at my barber. He was a regular evidently, it was the first time the barber opened after COVID. Everyone had masks on, and I saw the SB ring. I was thinking to myself that has to be him, hard to tell with the masks. My son was down first, he asked him if he had ever seen a SB ring. Showed it to him. I have heard he was nothing but a standup guy.

Somehow I always believe it should be possible to discuss minutiae without it devolving into an argument, especially this time of year. You wanna fight?

You come in here stating how no one said anything about it when you could have easily done so amongst your incessant arguing with other posters. But keep on with the personal attacks. It suits you.

It's the off-season.... sometimes you have to fabricate an argument. ;)
