I find Jim Rome EXTREMELY annoying and hard to listen to, but Lito Sheppard is coming up on his radio show shortly. (5 minutes) just a heads up.
His sports takes are generally solid, what makes the show annoying is the inside jokes and references to callers / listeners as if we care about them. In any event...Sheppard coming up in the next segment.
That video with Jim rome is hilarious, but does anyone else think it may have been staged? Even before Rome calls him 'Chris' for the last time, it looked like Everett had already started to throw the table over.
Just heard the interview with Lito. Most of you don't appreciate just how well Rome conducts his interviews. It's never the boring questions you hear on WFAN. Rome will get guys to think outside of the box. I can just hear Benigno, "LT, and what about that?", "Rivers, and what about that?" ect,ect. Plus, I don't see Lito on WFAN. Last week it was Calvin Pace. If you don't like the show that's fine, but his interviews are some of the best.
I give Rome credit for knowing his sports, and his interviews usually are pretty interesting ... but he goes waaaaayyyy too overboard trying to sound hip and cool. Dude ... you're not in high school ... you're 40-something years old ... speak like an adult. I swear he can't make it through 2 sentences in a row without slipping in some ridiculous street slang, or some stupid inside reference that only his suck-up listeners can understand. He also has the annoying habit of repeating the same idiotic phrase or bit over and over and over again until I'm ready to put a hatchet in my head. As bad as he is ... the listeners who call in with those prepared scripts are even harder to take. They all have man-crushes on Romey ... and they ramble on breathlessly and endlessly trying sooooo hard to sound witty and clever, hoping to get a hardon if he decides to "rack" them. The show really is God-Awful.
this,and he could probably wrap the show up in 45 mins if he didn't pause for 30 sec. in between each sentence.that said,sometimes he can get be f'ing funny,if he gets the right topic.
