He was on about 15 minutes ago:
    • said that Pennington will be signed to a 2-3 million deal, which will be guarenteed.

    • said that the team leading in the Abe sweepstakes is the Lions who at #9 view him as a pass rushing addition that have needed for years. Also the Lions are one of the handful of teams who can afford Abe. He also said the Jets would likely have to give up a draft choice in addition to Abe, likely a third rounder.

Having the No.4 and No.9 picks would be interesting, to say the least.

Abe & a 3rd Hmmmmm. That is a lot but It's the Best we're gonna get for getting rid of him.(Which I hate to see)
But to get the 9th Pick? and Get rid of A player who no longer wants to be here and is Definitely Gone?

    It's a no Brainer!
Do it. Don't get greedy or Cutesey or fancy Just do it.

How can we have 3 first round picks? We can only trade Abe to one team. It's either Detroit OR Denver. That being said, I'd give up Abe and a 3rd rounder for #9 in a heartbeat.

Thats a nice deal on our part.

I'd love to take a RB at 9.

If we get the #9 pick for Abe and a 3rd pick then I can live with Cutler at the #4 spot, Cutler and D. Williams/L. White

    Geez where do I sign...

I'm not averse to giving up a 3rd, especially given the fact that we may have a comp pick in the 3rd but definitely the 4th...

Think about it, 3 picks within the top 35- unbelievable if it happens.

That being said, I liken the story to nothing more than a rumor at this point and await further details.

And Abe won't be playing against us, he'll have menstrual cramps that week..

He must've editted it. I would've sworn I read it would be great to have 3 first rounders if this and the Denver deal went through.

Regardless, if this deal went through, I'd seriously have to consider gambling on Cutler slipping and trading down. With Detroit out of the picture, if we were to trade down from #4, the only teams in position to steal Cutler would be Oakland or Arizona (via trade up). Otherwise, if we take Cutler at #4, I think #9 is not the place for us to be and we should move down from there. Aside from Vernon Davis, Lendale White or Jimmy Williams, I don't see anyone there fulfilling a need. Later in the first round is where we can get guys that fill a need at good value e.g. McNeil, Mangold, etc...

Oh hell yeah lets do this. We can trade our #9 pick to a number where we think we can get mangold. And not have to pay him at a #9 pick numbers.

I agree that we should trade down if we have two picks in the top 10.

I would rather trade out of the #4 spot, sign a guy like Patrick Ramsey (i know a lot of people just groaned, but the guy is a good competitor, he's young, and can take a pounding), and grab either Williams or White at number 9. Then Grab Mangold later in the first.

Get on the phone and pull that trigger Mike T!

The lions know they wont be able to get mario williams at 9 so get abraham and a third would be great.

If we trade out of the 4 spot we could probably get at least another second rounder this year, and a pretty high pick in 2007.

On top of the later first rounder we would also get this year obviously.
