Did anyone happen to see the ESPN poll on the worst franchises in all of sports and it gave you about 15 franchises to rank and the Jets were one of them. Whats up with that? Playoffs 3 of the last 5 years. 41-0 over the Colts. They are a year away from what should have been and AFC Championship game appearnace. How could they ever be the worst, or even one of the worst franchises in all of sports.
Because if you look at their history over the last few decades, they've been garbage. How many jokes end with the punchline "New York Jets". Hopefully Mangini changes this.
To say they are one of the worst franchises is off. They paved the way for the AFC by winning Super Bowl three and there are still a number of franchises that have not won a Super Bowl yet. Have the Jets been one of the better teams over the past 35 years...not at all...but what they did early in their franchise history puts them past a lot of other teams. We still have the greatest upset in Football history on our resume and since Parcells took over we have been a respectable franchise.
not when your like me and live out in Cali....i think you would think differently..AZ fans have nothing to talk shit about so they cant say anything...neither can OAK or SF....but there was a time in recent years where i got a massive amount of shit for being a NYJ fan....thats when both of them were good...and it goes double for being a Yankee fan out here
They are in New York and all of their (many) blunders are in front of more people. I agree that they aren't among the top worst franchises but you have to admit we sure have an entertaining way of sucking sometimes. That's why we need to keep a good sense of humor, this is supposed to be entertainment after all. As one of my Dad's friends would always say, "watching the Jets is like watching a Perry Mason episode, you know the outcome, you just want to see how they get there."
Bad, worst, whatever. The bottom line is that the JETS have been singled out by the cosmos for persecution. I'm kidding, but they have somehow always managed to align themselves with failure from one regime to the next. You can't script it. Better times ahead. EDIT: And if anyone attempts to dredge up a Parcells lovefest, I thought I'd rev up my dumptruck just in case. You never know when I might get the opportunity to pin him up against the side of my garage.
You know, there are many teams in the NFL, and other leagues for that matter, that havn't won their respective champinships. There is no way we should be among the 15 worst of all time, its rediculous.
well the jets do have that very special saying when something is going so well that it seems unfuckable leave it to the jets and they will find a way to fuck it up or maybe thats my saying either way the coaches have always made bad decisions whether its on game day with play callin or draft day.
We're actually probably in the five worst. We just haven't been very good, and our best moment was before most fans were even born. Our best moment was before it was even considered the NFL, so yes, when people say we are one of the worst NFL franchises, they are correct. We don't have a championship as an NFL team. I think we are better than the Cardinals still probably. If it wasn't for that Championship a few years ago we would have atleast been better than the Buccs. We just never seriously contend for championships, and I don't think we're ever good 3 years in a row even.
Saints are worst, 1 playoff victory in franchise history, and all throughout Archie Mannig's tenure, they never had a winning season.
Saints hostory is not as old as ours. They were a expansion team so try again & use the Lions/Cards & you are in the correct area.
Just click the Jet's 'History' tab above. 42 years and only 12 postseasons. 1 Superbowl (before most of us were born) 2 AFC East Titles. Enough said.
No way are the Jets one of the 5 worst. In football alone they are better than the Lions, Cards, Saints, Bengals, and Oilers. I would also say they are better than the Vikes and Falcons. Throw in other sports leagues bad teams like MLB's Chicago Cubs, and Cleveland Indians and it's not even close. I think it's more because it's a NY team than anything else that makes them stand out.
I agree theres no way the jets are one of the worst franchises ever. That poll should look like this. 1. Toronto Raptors 2. Cleveland Browns(even if they had a history, nobody remembers it) 3. Arizona Cardinals 4. Buffalo Bills(when you go to 5 super bowls or somthing and not win any of them, im sorry thats a bad history despite getting to those super bowls. Not to mention you had people such as Thurman Thomas, Jim Jelly, and Bill Levy on that team)
Think of it this way--we could be the Cardinals. Parcells and Herm did good by us (at least on the field) and have brought us to respectability again. At the very least you can say that we're due for a title
