Major weakness's noted on Jets' :

    DEFENSE

    DT:

I still wonder about Jets' blunder about not drafting Gabe Watson on day 2 of draft, when he was still available ?

Tui Alailefaleula....will have to start at DT. At 6'3" 350lbs, what choices do the Jets' now have ???

    SS:

Jets' could use a bigg hitter at strong safety position, but if they can't get one, there present roster will make do until next year. Not a pressing need, but an upgrade would strengthen team.

    OFFENSE

    GUARD:

Jets' very thin at guard position. Anybody with a metro-card was swiping past Pete Kendall for a free ride as he was getting played (paid) like a turnstile against the Bucs. He was consistently getting beat on the line.

Kendall would help Jets' more, coming off the bench, he just doesn't have it anymore. Hopefully through waivers or trade, Jets' will get a starter at Guard. Maybe there's somebody already on the roster that can be an upgrade over Pete Kendall. Maybe Adrian Jones should play LG ? There are a few choices on the roster, with some big bodies. Gotta wonder why Jets' didn't take Max Gillies on day 2 of draft, or in round 3 when he was still available. Jets' 3rd round picks were not needs & seem wasted to me. If Jets' had drafted a Guard & DT with there 3rd round picks, Jets' would be looking real pretty right now. Instead, there scrambling, just to find an adequate unit for O & D-lines.

    RB's:

Cedric Houston can make it happen for Jets' this season. He's a good hard runner that breaks tackles & runs best between the tackles. He's a tad slow to take it around the corners, but with better blocking, he would have some room to take it around corners ???

    Final Analysis :

Jets' don't have alot of holes, but the ones they have....have to be fixed for Jets' to have a competitive season & with the way Tangini is working, they'll take care of there holes. I see they already brought Grady Jackson in for a look-see. But I gotta wonder( A blind man knew they needed a NT for the 3-4 defense, why wait til this late date, & why didn't they draft one ? Hmmm...hey...as fans...we might be more familiar with the Jets' talent pool, than Mangini...since we watched them all of last season.

It will be interesting to see how Jets improve from week to week & see what changes Mangini has implemented.

I suspect Jackson wasn't brought in earlier because he

    A) didn't want to attend; and
    B) couldn't cope with

    a full training camp.

Whether he signs now remains to be seen.

DT I dont think is really the problem.. Nt needs to take up two blockers which robertson can do we all know that. IMO and please dont kill me for this , but i think vilma is not going to be effective at inside linebacker. He needs to move to outside linebacker where he wont have to deal with the big guards Killing him.

I would put either victor hobson inside or Brad Kassell.

    #1 Weakness

Large portion of fan base are ignoramouses. I mean, just read some of the comments this week

    1) People all stressed that they traded Strait and now all pumped he's back.

GET A FREAKIN CLUE,,,, HE'S PROBABLY GETTING CUT, what the heck are you all pumped about?

    2) People who don't think they need a RB.

GET A FREAKIN CLUE,,, HOUSTON IS AWFUL, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU OVERRATING HIM FOR? BARLOW OR DUCKETT BLOW HIM AWAY, of course you get those guys if available.

    3) The constant overrating of draft picks

IF YOU CAN GET DUCKETT FOR A THIRD ROUNDER, IT'S AN ABSOLUTE HEIST. TO CLAIM THAT THEY CAN'T GIVE THAT UP IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. TRADING A THIRD ROUND PICK OR LOWER FOR ANY OF THESE GUYS IS AN ABSOLUTE STEAL. TO BITCH THAT THAT IS TOO HIGH A PRICE IS EMBARRASSING.

FIRST IT WAS THE CONSTRUCTION HELMETS AT THE DRAFT SAYING JETS ACTING LIKE JACKAS-ES. NOW THIS,,, WAKE UP,,,, WE NEED SOME KNOWLEGABLE FANS TO ADD TO THIS FAN BASE CAUSE IT'S STARTING TO GET EMBARRASSING.

Why not? I think it's right on the freakin mark. Read it again. You're not sick of people overrating Strait on this site? You don't think that's ridiculous? Guys probably getting cut, yet they don't want him included in a deal for a rb? You don't think that's ridiculous? You don't think this fan base needs a shot of knowlegable fans shot into it? You ever read this site (which is excellent by the way), and see how many people have no freakin clue?

I guess your right, but i guess some people just really like to support the players on the team that they love so much.

I understand that but a player like Strait is as expendable as they come. He ain't no future big player, that's obvious. And they need a RB badly. They can't go into this season with Blaylock and Houston, that's awful.

usually when someone is screaming to get a clue it is themselves that need to get a clue.. And that is exactly the case in this instance.. Bad teams just don't go and trade high draft picks for bad players.. What do you think will happen if we trade a 3rd round pick for Duckett?? Are we all of a sudden a SB contender? are our RB problems solved?

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY POINT!!!

A THIRD ROUND PICK (ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TWO SECOND ROUNDERS ALREADY) IS NOT A HIGH DRAFT PICK. WAKE FREAKIN UP.

Teams won't get very far trading any draft picks for mediocre players.. You still never anwered me, are our RB problems solved with the addition of the underwhelming TJ Duckett & with his addition are we SB contenders?

Definitely in agreement that Vilma should be outside & Hobson inside.
But, NT is a priority for this all to work.

I like Houston, Blaylock should be cut or traded.

Overall I agree with your observations. I would put more stress on fixing the trenches (DL and OL). It all starts and ends there. That is where games are won or lost. I liked the emphasis that was put on the OL on day one of the draft. But like you I think we should have gotten more depth on the DL in the third round. You are absolutely correct when you stated that we would be looking much better had we gotten a OL and DL in the 3rd round.
