Per NY Daily News on Rotoworld:

    http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL

The Jets are reportedly still interested in re-signing free agent Hank Poteat.
Dewayne Robertson's $11 million cap figure is restricting them from offering Poteat more than the NFL minimum. He's drawn no interest elsewhere.

    Bring him back plz.

Good. He played very well for us. I'm surprised he didn't draw any other interest...

Hopefully if we unload Robertson onto the Broncos on draft day as has been reported we can bring Poteat back. He was our second best CB last year and can still contribute, although I expect some competition for the #2 CB spot.

That will be the biggest training camp battle to watch for other than the competition between Clemens and Pennington.

Miller, Barrett, Poteat(if we re-sign him), and even a draft pick could be battling for that #2 spot.

Maybe even Drew Coleman. He's been solid for two years now so maybe he'll even step up and contribute in a greater role.

When you consider what we paid for him and the production we got,Hank Poteat is the best free agent signing that Mangini has made before this off-season.

Isn't that just more tripe? What does Robertson's contract have to do with it? They don't have to be under the salary cap until opening day. The garbage these writers write is just sickening.

It's amazing how a journey man guy can have such fandom. Include me as one of the guys who wants Poteat back. I just love the way he plays. He such a gamer and a guy who doesn't have the talent of someone like David Barrett but plays so much better!

I like the kid too. He's been in Mangini's dog house since the slip on the turf against Chicago. A game we could have won. He is very small, i think 5'9 yet he is quick as hell and his technique is par.

Hank should comeback, he's found a home here.

We have to get rid of Robertson, if nothing else, for the cap relief

If we all chip in enough maybe we can establish the "bring back Hank fund".

Don't forget to throw Andre Woolfolk in the CB competition. He with the Titans from 03-06. Don't really know why he didn't play or get picked up in '07, but i'm sure there's a good reason the FO took a chance in bringing him in.

TC fodder. He has the attributes of a good CB, but he can't put it together.

well with the attributes, hmm i dont know maybe just maybe he might be someone who "puts it together" this year. after all you cant coach talent, so having it is a nice thing.

everyone loves to say training camp fodder. right quick in a hurry. but it sure would be great if he ended up being something we could use.

Well, I don't much about the guy, but I hope he turns his career around with the Jets and becomes a valuable pickup down the road.

me too, it will only attribute to the good job the FO does. And he costs next to nothing.

Just one more good reason to get rid of D-rob ASAP. I would welcome Poteat back for sure. not an elite talent, but decent at waht he does. Provides good depth and stability for our secondary.
