I spoke with Seth Rabinowitz, the senior vice president of marketing and fan engagement today about the rewards program. He is very high up only the general manager and president are ahead of him. I couldn't believe what he told me. I told him that when the rewards program started that there was good items for sale ie) bose headphones, nice digital cameras for around 18K and 25K. Those sold out in a few weeks and the camera never returned. The bose headphones came back on for around 40K which most fans would never get to. Then crap items were put on for 24K or more ie) coins, ear muffs etc. He had the nerve to say that the jets made the original items deliberately low "to get fans to go to the preseason games and get in the stadium early thinking that they would get good items." So basically I told him it was a bait and switch. They knew that a very few fans would get good items and the rest of the fans would get the crap they are giving now. He said this was the idea of the rewards program from the beginning. The program was free and you should be happy with whatever you get. What a joke. I said I thought maybe since my $8,000 in PSL no basically worthless, the crappy product the jets put on the field, and the crap stadium that was built that maybe the Jets actually realized that the jets needed to give something back to the fans who have been loyal fans were going to be given something good in return. He said well the program said that items could be sold out and that was made very clear in the program. I told him that when I calculated that I would probably have 25000 or so points that I would get at least something similar to what I saw intially he didn't understand why I would be upset getting ear muffs instead. This ownership is a complete joke. They don't care about any fans just making money. He told me that he has had only a few complaints about the program and I told him most of the people that are tired of getting screwed just gave up there psl and gave the tickets back to the team. I am just curious if any other people realize the screw job that this team has given to the paying fans. The PSL have basically become worthless overnight. I would appreciate if any people are as upset as I am about how they don't care about the fans and call Seth Rabinowitz and leave him a message about how they feel. Any comments would also be appreciated
Most companies care more about profit than anything else. NFL teams, especially in big markets like New York, know that they're going to draw sellouts early on. it's too hard to organize boycotts against these so called "scams" and the team because there's plenty of people lining up to buy tickets and go to games regardless. I'm not really sure what you're expecting out of a rewards program. It's like complaining that you don't get hundreds of dollars of cash back for every hundred you spend on a credit card. It's not a scam it's a minimal perk that's really just a minor perk and if you hold season tickets for ten years they throw you a pair of Bose headphones. I'm just not really sure what you were expecting out of this. When people complain about stuff like this in regards to one of the most lucrative industries in the world (NFL) executives are probably laughing to themselves. You don't want to come to our games? HA! Good riddance there are plenty of people that do.
the truth is the people are not "lining up" to buy tickets. The jets are losing season tickets holders at a very high rate. They have tickets available all over the stadium and the psl are worthless or close to worthless if you go the secondary market sites. If there were people waiting in line there would be no tickets available and the psl would have some value. There were games this year where they were lucky to have half of the stadium full
Care to give example of any other team that gives away high-end items to all fans for signing to a free reward program? If you want to call Jets ownership idiotic, there are better ways of showing it that don't involve a BS grudge.
And how many people already purchased tickets but didn't go to the game because they had a terrible year? I really don't think they're losing money like you seem to suggest and furthermore I highly doubt a better rewards program would help their case if they were.
I am not saying that the rewards program would make people buy tickets but it could be the final straw to cause people to give up their tickets. They ownership does not care about the season ticket holders after they have paid a psl. I guarantee that the number of season ticket holders has dropped since the building of the new stadium each and every year
I think that any team that is having trouble selling season tickets like the jets are now the ownership does anything to help sell season tickets including giving free tickets, reduced tickets.
You would expect something different from people in marketing? Most promotions or reward campaigns like this arent scams, they just seem a lot better than they really are. Im sure if you signed a contract the fine print states that the rewards the Jets started out with might not be available after the first wave of people purchased them. Plus I highly doubt people would be giving up their tix cause of the reward programs being shady. Simply put if we had a Superbowl contending team we wouldnt need to depend on reward programs and garbage like that to fill our joke of a stadium.
I couldn't care less about the rewards program but in regards to the PSLs you couldn't be more correct, they are worthless. I think about giving my tickets back every year since they started with them, but my son is 5, I started out going to games as a kid with my dad in 1980, so I'm holding out hope that my son will carry on that tradition with me. It's a struggle, especially with the product they've been putting on the field, but at least with the new regime in place I've got some hope.
Talk about a hill you don't want to die on. I take it you don't work in marketing or promotions or have never held a job where you deal with anyone in those areas? This is standard operating procedure, and really not all that big of a deal. Why? Because they don't have to give you shit for going to a preseason game. Do fans in Jacksonville get anything? Oakland? Tennessee? No, they don't. We get it, you paid a PSL, so did all of us season ticket holders. That's just the way it goes. If you want to fight it, by my guest, but you're going to accomplish squat.
I think some of you guys are missing the point. The guy doesn't complain about Rewards Program gifts not being good enough. He complains about a mentality. Nobody told the Jets to setup a Rewards program. They did on their own and made some commitments. But they didn't execute the program the way they advertised and OP is right to complain.
Did they advertize giving away high-priced items, for all, at all times? Yes, OP has right to complain, everyone does, about anything. But like I said, if the goal is to show how bad Woody's regime is, FREE rewards program is not the smartest way to go.
The point was the mentality likebrooklyn said. The jets organization has shown that they don't care about their fans. They priced many of the long time fans right out of the stadium, have the highest tickets price in the NFL, made ticket owners pay for a psl. I know I agreed to paying it but didn't think it would be completely worthless two years later I paid 8000 in psl and over 2500 in tickets per year so getting a 150 or 10 dollar item is not going to make a huge difference. It's just the mentality of the organization to basically trick the season ticket holders to think they are going to get a decent item only to be replaced by crap. The fact of the matter is the new stadium sucks, the guy I talked to said there have been major problems, the psl they charged us is basically worthless, the product on the field has been awful and this rewards program is just one more indication of the mentality that the ownership could give two shits about their season ticket holders.
It's really sad I love football and love the the jets. This is the only reason I go to the games. Everything the organization does makes me closer and closer to giving up my tickets
I just think it's a bit of a whiny mentality to be honest. To complain about the crappy team or things about the stadium would be one thing. But a rewards program? Some banks have rewards programs and these are the people directly responsible for making money off you. Have you ever looked at them? You literally need to be a member for 20 years in some of them to get a free car charger. Like I said, the Jets aren't struggling with money or attendance and your every day fan doesn't care about a rewards program. The Jets were 3rd in attendance last year behind only the Giants and the Cowboys. What was that you said about people not lining up to go to games? This is in a 4-12 season mind you. Like I said, most executives in the NFL really do not care if you do not want to come to the games anymore because of the final straw of expensive PSLs, tickets and stadium concession prices! They'll gladly let you leave and take someone else who wants to come.
That can't be right. if so they totally fudged the numbers. I understand its a big stadium and attendance in general is down in the league but there's no way thats right if they properly counted the amount of people at each game last year
The attendance figure is a complete fabrication, the stadium was empty for almost every game. And the jets are having a hard time selling tickets they lowered the upper deck prices, and many of the original psl buyers just gave up their tickets,. I don't think the people posting here have any idea of the troubles the team is having selling tickets, who in their right mind is going to buy new season tickets from the jets with a huge psl when they can buy the rights to the seats on the secondary market for almost nothing.
