Woody asked last year if he would like to coach the Jets. My how things come full circle. Dick Steinberg who was GM of the Jets in the 90's asked Bill Walsh who he would recommend for a head coaching position. Walsh recommended two of his assistants Mike Holmgren and Bill Coslet. Holmgren wanted to stay out west. Coslet took the job. Then Ron Wolf who worked for the Jets at the time took the Green Bay Packers GM job and hired Mike Holmgren. https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/jets-c...n-for-head-coaching-job-last-season/180418040
Gotta love this shit. So... The Jets reached out to a guy that has been nothing and done nothing for like 15 years... and hired someone else. Thanks for the big scoop, boozer.
No problem skizzmul I'll be here all week. I would take 15 years in a heartbeat. What has it been now for the Jets 47 years. Oh yeah that's much better.
Yeah but Darron Lee still only weighs 205 pounds so we're a doomed franchise anyways. In other news, the NFL is getting younger and younger. Old coaches stuck in their ways fade out very quickly, because they refused to adapt to the ever changing league. It's one of the big reasons I think Gruden is staying right where he is. You can't just exit the league for nearly a decade and come back and expect to be successful. While Joe Gibbs managed a playoff win in his return, old time coaches will never come back and provide stability for a franchise because they're looking for a quick fix last second hail mary Superbowl win for their ego and resume.
They've got Darron running with the 1's at "MOLB" behind Henderson. Somebody tell Bowles that Boozer said he should be at OLB in Charles Haley's role. Doesn't anybody in camp understand the got dam NFL?
I guess you are the only one that understands. What is it Day 3? Yeah you got it figured already. Lee might make a great safety one day but linebacker nah.
Have you checked the age of our offensive coordinator? How long has SB winning Gary Kubiak been around along with his SB winning defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
Curious to see what Holmgreen would have done with the plethora of QB talent and great drafts of the Jets in the early 90s.
We're talking about a ten year hiatus. I'm not talking about old coaches. I'm talking about coaches that exit the game for a long while then try to come back. It rarely if ever works out for sustained success or any success at all.
