I know I started the same thread in the Jets Experience Forum, that was a mistake, I meant to start it here....can a mod delete that one please? For Thanksgiving I am staying over my Grandparents house in Cape Cod...4 hours from my house. They don't have NFL Network, but they do have Comcast...which I'm pretty sure offers NFL Network. I'm not missing this game...so I was just wondering if I could order NFL Network at like 7pm on Thursday night and then Cancel it the next morning....I've heard that you can do that and only have to pay like a dollar, is this true? If this is possible without having to charge their bill a whole month or something....since my grandparents are terrible at technology is it safe to order NFL Network only an hour before gametime myself when I get there since it's a holiday, or would I have to do it earlier (Wednesday/Today)? Would it instantly be available? Just looking for some info Thanks
I didn't think it'd be that easy, but I remember seeing multiple times people on TGG saying how they ordered NFL Network then canceling it after games and saving money. I would only use it for one night, since it's their house and they'd never use it after I leave.
You need to order the sports pack, which is an extra $5 per month. I'm not sure how a 1 day deal would work.
upgrade the package to the hugher package that has NFL Network. They'll have to keep it for 30 days before they can down grade. Just tell them you'll pay the bill for the month. Got to remember to down grade at the 29 day mark, or it'll cost another 30 days
My Comcast (CT) has "WPIX CW 11" which is showing the Jets game. I think the local station gets to carry the NFL Network game.
the key question will probably be if they have a cable box or not. you could check comcast.com and it will tell you what package it is a part of. i dont think it could be more than 20 bucks for the month, i dont think they make you keep it for a month so it could work. the key is that they have a converter box. if not they will have to get one to receive it. which then becomes a pain in the ass.
I know your grandparents aren't technology advance but I imagine they probably have the interwebs. a simpler solution might be bring a laptop and use myp2p.eu.
So at worst case It would be $5 and I can cancel it before the month's up? Could I just cancel it the day after and still pay the month so I don't forget? They won't use it. They don't get WPIX in Cape Cod. Amazingly...they don't have the internet.
Holy fuck shit. If you have an android or BB you can turn it into a modem or hotspot, but I don't know if the speed will permit you to stream successfully.
comcast is currently providing nfl network for free to digital hd basic or better subscribers. try it when you get there, if not, its a 15 dollar difference in their bill, pay it and cancel it. i told them i wanted to cancel hbo after hardknocks when i added it and they gave me a year free on the spot.
Okay thanks for the help guys I'll probably get to their house at around 6-7pm...an hour before gametime. Being Thanksgiving and 7pm....I'll still be able to call and get it withing minutes right?
You might wanna call them beforehand and ask, or go to comcast.com a lot of businesses have free online chat with customer service.
I am spending Thanksgiving alone this year because of the Jets.Every year I go out of state to relatives but the Jets are keepin me home this year.I have not missed one single live play of a Jets game in over 13 seasons!Jets before family for me.
I debated taking a separate car and driving 6 hours total just to go home watch the game, and then back in the morning. Don't have too anymore though. Just talked to some retard on Comcast in a Live chat who could barely type, and eventually confirmed that I will be able to order it right before and cancel it after.
Good shit. Hopefully the information is accurate. I asked an AT&T live chat a few questions, then after I signed the contract the information they gave me was complete garbage. GOOD LUCK
Order the Red Zone sports package. Its $5 a month and you get NFL Network, Red Zone, and some other channels like the MLB/NHL network. The channels should become available immediately. Call them the next morning and cancel them. I'm not sure why people are telling you that this won't work. I just did it 2 weeks ago for the Red Zone channel.
He is concerned that A) it wont be available right away and B) that he wont be able to cancel it right away. I haven't done it so I can't say for certain on either.
They send a signal to your cable box immediately when you call them. The channels should be available in a matter of seconds. The only way this doesn't work is if there is a technical problem, which is possible considering this is Comcast.
