We know what Mangini wants to do with our defense (mostly 3-4, switch up with 4-3 and nickel packages based on matchups), but what does he want to do on offense? Do you think he's going to go for the Weis version of the short passing game? Is he going to run Curtis Martin like crazy (Hackett/2004)? Is he going to try to go more vertical? Or is there going to be a more ball-control (Parcells) type offense? Opinions?

i'm guessing it'll be chargers-esque if anything, but it'll be more suted to our talents... so running.

i agree completely, but i would like to see the jets do a running type of offense so we can test our young O-linemen. i think by running alot it will give them the NFL experience they need for the years to come.

You gotta figure that it will be similiar to the Chargers offense, high percentage passes, some sort of West Coast system.

Also, look at the quarterbacks on our roster, Pennington, Ramsey and Clemens, and throw in Brooks for good measure. Those passers besides Ramsey are guys whose games are predicted on high percentage passes. How many times on draft day did Tangini mention Clemens completing 60+ % of there passes.

Being that, I say we will go some sort of high percentage...west coast-esque, charger esque type of attack.

The Charger offense is not a West Coast offense. It is more vertical than the West Coast featuring a lot of medium length passes.

There's only 2 QB's on the roster than can make those type throws. Hopefully, they'll both be healthy by the time the season starts...

I'm thinking that they are never going to tell us what offensive system they plan on using, and we're just going to have to figure out what it is by watching it. Not that I'm complaing, but DAMN!

Run the ball 40 plus times and ask Ramsey to make one play down the field if it's there. If not throw it away and turn it over to the D. Kinda like paracells............. I hope atlease.

I wish people who stop saying Penny will/might get cut after June 1st. Do you have any idea the cap hit the Jets would take if he is cut this year? Not to mention he just restructured, and if they cut him now, no player or agent would negotiate with the team ever again on good faith.

Before all the shoulder injuries, the Jets of 2002 through many intermediate level passes. In fact the signature pattern between Chad and Lavernaues was the 20 yard square in. Those Jets also through the ball deep once and awhile. I suspect if Chad can, than they will look like the Chargers of the Brees era, or the Jets of 2002.

We're going to run a wishbone/option offense with Smith at QB; Martin, Houston, and Washington in the backfield.
