Jets | Visit with Clemens will be in Oregon Mon, 17 Apr 2006 06:01:16 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets visit with Oregon QB Kellen Clemens Wednesday, April 19, will take place in Oregon. Clemens has risen rapidly up the charts this offseason into second-round territory on some draft boards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jets | Team staying at No. 4? Mon, 17 Apr 2006 06:04:07 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports talk early in the offseason was that the New York Jets might be interested in trading up with either the Houston Texans at No. 1 or the New Orleans Saints at No. 2, but with two weeks until the NFL Draft, the word is that they are not looking to trade up.
Good to hear, we can't trade so much to only move up 2 or 3 spots, especially if we move up with the Texas to grab Leinart instead of Bush.
I'd be pleased as punch if they're planning on moving down the board. Kellen Clemens would be interesting, but I'd still prefer Croyle if they're both available in the 2nd. I'm glad rumors of moving up have finally died down. Bush would be the only one worth the move, and he's beyond any teams grasp, IMO. The Texans worked hard to lose all those games, and they'll be damned if they don't end up with their man.
that would blow, we do NOT need hawk and he would be the only defensive player avalable thats worth that pick
Well according to NFL Draft Countdown Leinart will be their, and they usually have one of the most accurate mock drafts. I wouldn't mind Kellen Clemens with our first 3rd rounder but if we take him a 35 I'll be upset. Be wary as he is an Oregon QB and they have a history of being pretty bad in the pros.
Yeah Joey Harrington is the latest example. But still, you can't just say because a QB is from this school he's going to suck in the pros. I like Kellen, but he's a little small. He's about the same height as Bollinger. Gary Meyers was talking about us taking Croyle with our 29th pick in an article yesterday. I think he's out of his mind. Croyle is a reach until the top of the 3rd round in my opinion. He needs to bulk it up big time, as he's also kind of smallish (200 pounds). What do you think?
It's all B.S. Can anyone substantiate any of the draft "Rumors" or any of the 'Mock Drafts". They are fun to look at, but they have as much credability as any of the draft predictions on this board. Sports writers are not more qualified than any of us. The reason nothing is happening right now is because nothing is happening. No team wants to show their hand, that would be a huge mistake. Teams have their value boards and may be tweaking them over the next two weeks but they will not give up so much as a soundbyte of their intentions.
Yeah, he is especially accurate with his top picks. However, this isn't his last mock update. He will do one more final mock and if Young is at 3, I think we can count on it.
i'd preffer croyle to b/c if he pays attention in practice and has a good training camp he could start for the 2007 season
I'm happy by this. I'd rather stay at 4 and keep our other 1st than trade up. Ideally I'd rather trade down if we could. But that's obviously depending on who's available at #4 and what kind of offer we would get, if any.
Jets | More on their visit with Cutler Mon, 17 Apr 2006 17:55:29 -0700 Judy Battista, of the New York Times, reports New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer led Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler through a breakdown of the Jets' offense at a blackboard Sunday afternoon, April 16, and Monday morning, April 17. In all, Cutler spent about five hours learning the offense before throwing in front of the Jets' contingent. Cutler said the Jets seemed to stress stretching the field and also discussed routes in which the pocket moved. The coaches also talked to Cutler about the strong gusts at Giants Stadium, but Cutler, who has the strongest arm of the top three quarterbacks in the draft, said he believed that would not be a problem, that his passes would slice through the wind. "I could definitely see myself playing for them," Cutler said of the Jets.
I like Jay Cutler alot...I think he has all the potential to be a franchise QB...I just don't like the idea of drating him at 4...if only we could move down and take him...
if we draft a QB, it has got to be Cutler. Leinart's passes wont be able to get through the wind in the meadow lands and he has no mobility. Young is to much of project, by the time he would understand it all, he would only have a couple years remaining on his contract. Cutler has a great arm, and decent mobility. I think taking him at 4 is definatly a stretch, but i am all for trading down and taking him.
People say that and I have no reason why. The only similarity that I see between Leaf and Cutler is that they both have strong arms.
