I forgot all about how Rex sent the players to Cortland. Good idea IMO like the article said

'The Jets moved their training camp from Florham Park, N.J., to SUNY Cortland last summer, in part to escape the glare and distractions of training in the New York City metropolitan area.'

    hopefully it works out.

    God we suck...

I love to have camp in Cortland but for god's sake Woody you are a multi-billionaire and you have to go ask for 200'000$ in public money to hold camp there?

It's like if my friends invite me to dinner and I tell them "I'm only coming if I don't have to buy anything and you spend all the money to arrange this". Fuck you Woody, to you 200'000$ is like 10 bucks to me... just pay the team expenses and don't go begging for peanuts.... CLASSLESS.

Well, Woody inherited his fortune, but generally millionaires don't become millionaires by spending like they're millionaires. Being frugal is a good thing. The Jets brought millions into the economy by being there, it can't hurt for the state to kick in a little bit to make sure that money keeps flowing in.

This is interesting, my inside source (I'm a student here) said there was no way in hell the Jets came back to C-state.

I've learned not to trust "inside sources" since a poster told me his inside source said Spagnuolo was our next HC.

That's why I'd set it up again. Why not?

Because I'm not flying out to Jersey just to spent another God-knows-how-many-hours to drive up to Cortland for camp. I actually wanted to go back to camp again this year.

This is a primary example of what having a bloated government does to the overall fabric of society. Because there is an expectation that the government will spend to promote local commerce and a matching expectation that politicians will curry favor by directing money to local concerns we wind up with a team worth a billion dollars, owned by a person worth more than that, getting a "small" handout to do business in a particular location.

The team and owner win by getting the taxpayer to pick up a share of the tab. The politician wins by getting good local press and pumping up the local economy (at the expense of a local economy elsewhere that does not have the Jets training camp) and the taxpayer somehow winds up subsidizing professional football practices (at the expense of other things that probably have more impact in society as a whole.)

You can't have an ownership society when the cost of ownership is routinely subsidized by people who do not own the thing being subsidized. It just does not work.

I went up there last summer with my brother, and all I could think was "Wow, what a great idea. There's zero chance the players can get distracted in a place like this!"

I like the move, but I don't look forward that 4 hour drive.

You can't blame Woody for taking advantage of the system that exists though.

I like the idea of the Jets getting away for camp.

The town of Cortland is a dump!!

all the way to a 9-7 year. :)

i dont like it because of reasons stated last year, i would hope they would have it at least close to home... it also irks me that they may have moved it to try and get those who dont go to games but DO go to TC to pony up for some regular season tickets.

its great for the upstate jets fans but bad news for the old school jets fans who have gone to camp for years. i really feel for those guys, everything has now been taken from the queens and long iceland jets fans.
