The Jets may add a future first-ballot Hall of Famer to its wide receiving corps when the lockout is lifted. Gang Green has legitimate interest in soon-to-be free agent Randy Moss, according to sources.

The uncertainty surrounding the makeup of the team’s wide receiving corps has generated plenty of speculation in the past few months. Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith will all be unrestricted free agents if the 2010 free agency rules aren’t reinstated.

Although the organization has maintained that it would like to keep both Holmes and Edwards, it may not be financially feasible to sign two high-caliber wideouts to long-term deals. Holmes previously stated his desire to take a wait-and-see approach with negotiations. Edwards recently expressed his desire to play for the Jets perhaps at a slightly discounted rate.

Last month, there were conflicting reports over Gang Green’s level of interest in Moss. Earlier this month, Pro Football Talk reported that it heard rumblings that the 34-year-old wide receiver was on the Jets' radar.

The Jets will have more than a cursory interest in Moss if Holmes or Edwards doesn’t return, per sources.

Rex Ryan firmly believes that Moss is still a viable vertical threat. Even in the twilight of his career, he creates matchup problems. In other words, opposing defensive coordinators still game plan to stop him. Moss is apparently as motivated to prove doubters wrong as he was when the Patriots rescued him from the Raiders four years ago.

Moss may not ultimately be a Jet, but Gang Green is certainly interested in him if it loses Holmes or Edwards.

    Antonio Cromartie would welcome Moss.

"I would love to have Randy Moss on Jets," Cromartie said in a tweet to the Daily News. "Much respect. Great vertical guy who has a lot left in the tank."

I'd rather have Chad Ochocinco. I'd MUCH rather have Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes.

Yeah, I really want Holmes and Edwards back. No thanks on Moss. I could see him ruining the team chemistry, I don't care what anyone else says.

If by some reason we don't resign Holmes or Braylon, and there's no one left, then fuck it I'd take Moss for 1 season, but there would be a clause in his contract that would allow us to waive his bitch ass the minute he starts acting up

Revis, Rex, Bart Scott, Sanchez these guys I think would get Moss to focus ... ehh key word "think"

But I would much rather keep Holmes and Braylon just like everyone else would I'm sure

agreed. If we can't keep our guys, and there isnt another real viable option, I would give Moss a shot. If he doesn't have it, or causes issues, kick him to the curb...

But I would rather sidney rice, lance moore, vincent jackson, malcolm floyd Chad Johnson, or a handful of other guys before Moss.

The Jets top priority is to get both Braylon and Santonio to come back. If they're deadset on building the team around Sanchez, then constantly swapping his go-to receivers is only going to hurt his development.

I think I'd rather have TO over Moss if we're going for an over the hill headcase WR. Moss has had the bigger years stat wise, but with TO if you throw out the year in buffalo and his one season with the eagles where he was injured he's been over 9 TDs every year.

Moss concerns me more than TO. I've never seen TO quit, even when he was on the shitty Bills he was trying.

I hope we just spend the money on Holmes and Edwards.

I like TO and Ocho over Moss BUT you can't forget that revenge factor, Moss wants at the Pats badly , and we have seen when Moss goes for broke against a hated team , it usually invokes big time numbers.

Is this the first moss to the Jets thread this year? It's like 3 months later than usual.

I think this is like the 2nd or 3rd thread already, hasn't this been brought up previously? Argh bullshit, A.B.M - Anyone but Moss

I bet however, Moss is extremely motivated to prove his doubters wrong, he embarrassed himself last season, will he go out as a joke on a potential HOF career? I think not ... but we said this about Favre as well ...

When free agency starts on time we have usually lost count of how many moss threads there are by now.

Rex should stick with recruiting defensive talent.

    Fuck Randy Moss.

I posted it because it's a news story, not as a suggestion.

It might have made sense years ago to reunite Moss and Pennington, but I'm not sure we want our "fruitcake" QB putting up with a WR headache.

You guys mean to tell me if we lose one of Edwards or Holmes you wouldn't take Randy Moss on the cheap? Wow. Put personal hatred aside. I can't stand the dude, but he'd be a better second option (for all intents and purposes) than anyone else out there.

If they believe you are right and actually go after him I will trust the coaches and FO but the Jets get linked to Moss every year.

Also, it only makes sense if they keep Holmes and Edwards walks. At least Braylon can go over the middle a bit but Moss/Edwards doesn't mix.

Oh no doubt, I'm not doubting this is total bullshit, but I just think it's a little ridiculous people are swearing off Randy Moss like he'd hurt the team rather than help it if, like the article stated, we lost Holmes or Edwards.

actually, I think he is not what he used to be and if he is not getting the ball he will be a distraction. Sanchez may not yet be ready for his type of distraction so I do not want him.
