He's responsible for the development of Sutton and Patrick while keeping the team afloat when both of those guys and Jeudy were hurt. Seems like a pretty solid hire.
Sign this beast oh wait we did! I feel like JD is gonna have a damn good offseason from personnel to players I can feel it
From what I've read, the Bills interviewed him, & the Broncos wanted to keep him, so it looks like a decent hire... provided he passes a rigid Jets gambling test
You're openly admitting this? Bold when you also want people to take your football opinion seriously.
Imagine putting that on your resume. “Hey I was the guy that developed Tim Patrick” I’m sure the Jets were wowed in the interview I guess the alternatives though were really Fat Rex’s intern son and the guy who embarrassed the franchise by betting on games last year
Sounds like the Broncos may be interested in shipping Courtland Sutton out of town. Would he be interested in following our new WR coach? I'd be interested to see what a Sutton trade would look like. The main issue I would think would be his contract, it's not ridiculous by any means but he does have about 3 years left with an AAV around 17.8M, but 2023 would be the last year of the big dead cap hits as that goes down to 7.6M in 2024 and 3.8M in 2025. If we cut ties with Corey Davis, I could see us kicking the tired on Sutton. He would be a little bit more expensive but could fill that role.
A big upgrade from Davis as well, I like Sutton. He has been injured a bit if I recall correctly, don't know a ton about him aside from fantasy ownership in some leagues so I did follow him some the last couple of years. He did make the pro bowl in 2019, don't know if I would be too keen on coughing up a likely 2nd or 3rd round pick though as well as eating the contract, I like the idea of replacing Davis with Lazard when Rodgers comes
For shits and giggles https://heavy.com/sports/new-york-jets/zach-wilson-courtland-sutton-denver-broncos/
Seems like he's been relatively healthy, missed all of 2020 with the torn ACL but other than that year he's played in at least 15 games the other 4 years of his career. I'd be out on giving up a 2nd or 3rd for him. If you could get him for a 4th/5th, then I become a lot more interested. Robert Woods got traded for a 2023 6th last offseason, and Amari Cooper got traded for a 5th and a 6th round pick swap, so I don't think a 5th would be that outlandish for Sutton. Just depends on how badly Denver wants to move him and how many teams would want him.
If we trade for a Rodgers I don't think I'd want to give up another draft pick for him. If we go with Carr, then I see it as a possibility. The cap will be an issue either way.
Suddenly Cortland Sutten is an exciting trade prospect? I would give up exactly nothing for Sutton. He hasn't been the same since his injury and last year he became a bigger drop machine than Corey Davis. I wouldn't pay him as much as Davis either.
I've never heard of Azzani either. I figure if we hired him he must have something. But using the Broncos WRs as an example of his success isn't flying with me. Their passing game was the biggest disappointment in the league last year.
