The Jets aren’t one of the four unknown teams with whom Zach Orr has visits scheduled, but they apparently have interest in the linebacker. Orr’s agent, Rob Sheets, told the New York Post that he has heard from the Jets and hopes to put “something in the works” to get Orr there for a visit.

Orr is in Detroit and has a visit scheduled Friday with another team and three other trips for next week, Sheets told Baltimore radio station 105.7 The Fan earlier Thursday.

The Jets’ interest in Orr makes sense considering their release of middle linebacker David Harris earlier this month. The Jets have Demario Davis, Bruce Carter and Julian Stanford as candidates to fill the vacancy, but Orr likely would be an upgrade as he led the Ravens with 132 tackles last season.

Orr recently came out of a five-month retirement after additional consultation with doctors about his congenital neck and spine condition.

Honestly had no idea who he was. I'd be pissed if I were the Ravens.

Started 15 games last year. 132 tackles. 1 sack, 3 picks, 1 forced fumble

    Instant upgrade at ILB.

I was wondering when this post would appear.
There are alot of teams interested in signing him. He is meeting with the Lions and 4 other teams .
At 25 years of age with the stats he had in his final season with the Ravens it makes sense. He would be a good addition to the Jets roster.
Now we will have the usual suspects come post how Mac should be fired for considering signing Orr , how we should have kept Harris, if Mac does somehow sign him.
If not we can look forward to the bullshit post saying he took less money to sign there then here.
And the one line post that will state
" No free agent will sign with the Jets".

Why would you be pissed if you were the Ravens? Teams lose FAs all the time,

28 in 2020. In theory that makes his prime in the middle of the window the Jets are trying to create, assuming his health issues are not crippling over several years.

If the Jets think he is a good ILB it might make sense to sign him to a deal with a balloon year next year when we have a lot of cap space and have to spend heavily to avoid 89% problems down the road.

His work with the Ravens was good. But he retired with congenital neck and spine condition. Now some Doctors say he can play again. That's either a bad diagnosis by the original Doctors or a better one by the new Doctors. I don't like the idea of signing him if the is the chance that he will get banged up enough to trigger retirement again. We better put the best possible tests before we make any commitment to sign him.

We don't have to spend heavy next season. We entered this league year we'll above the cap and don't have to hit the 80% cap floor until 2020.

I figured that would be saved for the latter argument why it's good he signed elsewhere.
Imagine he signs with the Patriots, I'm stocking up on popcorn just in case.

Yeah, I've never heard of him but his stats are impressive. With that many teams after him, he probably will not sign with the Jets. Back in the day the Jets would overpay but now they are in cost management mode.

It's 89% and only the years 2017-2020 are included in the total. That means we can underspend the cap by a cumulative total of 11% over the next 4 seasons. If we're way under next year we'll have to hit the cap or close too it in 2018-2020, even with an expanding cap - and given the ratings last year it's not clear what the future holds in terms of revenue expansion at this point. The NFL may have reached the saturation point in terms of marketability.

My suggestion was that the Jets find ways to use some of the cap space next year by frontloading a contract or two for the year. This will give them more latitude and actual cap space in future years under the 4 year interval.

Zach Orr sounds like a guy who has found a cache of kryptonite and is going to bring about the destruction of Metropolis.

The problem with front loading a contract is if the player performs at a high level the first year, you end up with a hold out once the money dips.

Darrelle Revis was kind of unique in that regard, alongside his Uncle who taught him the trick.

The Jets should have traded him at top of the market after 2009. Any time you are held hostage by a player you're going to be worse off sooner or later and often it is sooner.

Amex's a minimum, he should háve never been brought back from New England. Bad move from the ow
1000%. Worst move was bringing him back from the Pats.

He would immediately become the best ILB on the team & would put Davis back on the bench for the majority of the game, however, if we are one of eight teams interested in him, I highly doubt he chooses to come here. With his neck issue I'm not so sure he will play more than a few more years and he's getting plenty of interest from teams who can somewhat contend in 2017 or 2018.
