I don't know how accurate this is but just this site alone tells you how passionate Jets fans are. The only surprise to me was that the Steelers were not in the top five. I was in the military for 24 years and every place I ever went there seemed to be more Steelers fans than any other team, including the Cowboys. And it was hard as hell to find another Jets fan in the crowd. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/07/where_do_jets_rank_in_study_of_nfls_best_fans.html
Green Bay at 7 and Pittsburgh at 14? Please these fanbase s are two of the best. New England didn't give a shit about the Pats until Parcells got there. Their fanbase is a joke. Bills should be alot higher as well.
Pay attention to the criteria ( In particular, we are focused on market outcomes like attendance, prices or revenues.). Pittsburgh and Green Bay markets probably can't touch the latter two, but the fans do rock the house when it comes to attendance. Edit: same for Buffalo
Just read the entire article. It is in fact an "equity" ranking, not an "enthusiasm" ranking. Supports my assumptions about Pittsburgh/Green Bay/Buffalo. Cleveland ranked second to last affirms it even more. From an equity standpoint, I guess the only surprise for me is seeing Washington at #15.
I don't know. I think the Bills fans should be top 5. I've been to both stadiums and the Bills fans are louder while at Jets games it can be quiet and they're always people moving around out of their seats. A lot of visiting jerseys at Jets games as well. Not like the days in Queens.
Emory is a fine school. Didn't realize someone's Dissertation could be based on football fans(?) . I am sick of Steeler and Pat bumper stickers. I don't live in Metro area anymore but I actually see Jets logos on some cars from my area which is good.
Maybe in your experience, but not in mine. Down here in Carolina, I have seen a pretty fair number of cars with Steelers decals or flags. When I lived in NYC and went to Jets and Giants games, I ALWAYS saw Steelers fans, even when the Jets/Giants were playing other teams.
If you can't name more than 5 players on your team then you're not a real fan. Bye bye steelers, pats, Cowboys, etc nation.
Patriots..that is very funny. Very funny. If the study doesnt include bad seasons and good seasons...and how the fanbase reacts the following year after a bad season...you couldnt get a ripple going let alone a wave when the Pats had down years. Thats a joke.
No matter where I go I meet Steeler fans. "Fans" that cant name a player besides the Qb or dont even know a little bit of the teams history. Bandwagon fans make it bad for real Steelers fans, and the Cowboys would be a close second.
Steeler history ? Use more steroids than any other team and win more games than any other team. I'm not sure who was juiced more the Steelers or Raiders. Look on the bright side, that have allot of rings to show for it.
Skimming through the responses, it's seems that many didn't comprehend or read the article. And yes, the Steelers have a ridiculously large fan base
