don't know how many of u ladies saw this last evening on NFLN. they broadcast the replay of this game with commentary from various players/coaches....... really an unreal game in retrospect as many of us here have talked about before. b. kosar is pretty funny - he'll tell u anything - he seems like an anxious person - wonder if he has had drug issues. r. carter had some nice commentary as well. really a shame that injuries hit that team as well as a battered QB in o'brien. jil
One of the worst losses in team history BUT the chances are we weren't beating denver in Denver the next week and even if we had the Giants would have crushed us in the SB.
Me and my buddy were plotting to drive to Cleveland for that game. We were 23 and stupid. Wish we still were ; ) We didn't do it, and glad we didn't - the drive home from the game to Jersey would have sucked big time. Maybe even worse than my flight home from Denver in '99.
Ahh, let it go. At least during our lifetimes the Browns have been an even sorrier franchise than the Jets.
I saw it was coming on next and jumped up to change the channel. If there is no season, my plan is as follows: *Hard Knocks all recorded, will watch in order *Saved all our appearances (wins) on NFL Replay, will watch those in order, one week at a time. Usually I'd have gone through them all already but I'm holding back just in case.
Why have an attitude like that?Nobody gave us a chance last year in New England in the divisional round. There is no such thing as "this team has no chance"anymore.I know this is all 25 years old but just sayin anything could have happened.
Trust me, we weren't beating the Giants in the SB and it would have been very difficult to defeat denver at Mile High. We could have beaten denver, we had no shot against the Giants- they were that great that year. There was a HUGE gap btw the AFC and NFC in those days.
I know there was a huge gap then and yes the Giants were a damn good team that year.It was highly unlikely but ya still never know.Would have been cool havin a subway SB but not so cool to have lost it hmy:
LT was a god that year, had over 20 sacks I think. Beating the Niners 49-3, and following that by shutting the Skins out. I hate to agree but during that time LT dominated, he could take control of the game pretty much by himself. The Blindside was right about that, LT made the OL specifically left tackle a premier position.
I want to get to a SB badly, I want to experience the AFC title and SB week but losing to the Giants in the SB would be the worst possible loss in our history so I would rather have not made it and lose to them. LT was a football God most of his career, he's the best defensive player I have ever seen and it's not even close. They would have beaten us pretty badly. parcells vs. Walton?hmy:
The thing with the Giants was they got on a huge roll at the perfect time and we were banged up. If we had the October team that beat Denver, with a confident O'Brien and healthy Gastineau and Klecko, we'd have had a shot. Simms wouldn't have been 22-25, that's for sure.
Banged up is a nice way to put it. We were missing major portions of the starting lineup from the earlier part of the year. If we had a healthy team going in to the championship game, which we didn't, we had a great shot of winning it all. That whole season was about as depressing as it can get. At least in '99 we knew we were in serious trouble early on.
I agree w/ you there. we weren't half the team in january we were in october but the best teams keep getting better and peak in jan/Feb. We couldn't overcome all the injuries.
