I think them not having Crayton or Terry Glenn helps the Jets out alot...now they can focus on Witten and Owens. I don't think this means they will shut down either of those guys, but Crayton is their 3rd guy. Cowboys 34 Jets 24 Unless Kellen Clemens has a breakout game...I don't see how we can score enough points to keep up.
I don't see why we can't win this game. The Steelers are a better football team from top to bottom... and I think they are better coached too. Romo has been absolute lightning this year, but like any QB, will start throwing the ball up when you get pressure on him. I know the problem is that no one is getting pressure on him, but up to last week, no one was getting pressure on Roethliesberger either. Owens is going to be a problem. He must be contained if the Jets are going to win. If we can stop Willie Parker, then there is no reason we can't stop Marion Barber / Julius Jones. Jets have to keep up the defense they played last week. Finally, Jets can not turn the ball over. Cowboys have a fast and nasty defense that can make plays happen. If the Jets play smart but aggressive, they should keep the Cowboys on their heels.
Crayton has become their 3rd down guy. When TO gets locked down they look for Crayton. He also returns punts....
Thats kind of my thinking as well. Both defenses try to come up the field quickly, and shut down the run, so, our offensive game plan should be almost identical to what it was on Sunday. The wrinkle will be more catches for Baker and Kowalewski (sp?), and more 3 wide sets...anything to force Williams into coverage....Baker could have a big day.... With Crayton likely out, or at least hampered, instead of doubling with the 2CB, and Safety the 2 can play the replacement, leaving Revis and Rhodes to double TO.
The Jets need to get someone to man up on Witten. I think the trap that a lot of defenses have fallen into with the Cowboys is that they run a zone to stop Witten, and that allows TO to just go nuts. I might spy one guy over the middle of the field but man up the rest of the coverage, try to get a safety blitzing too.
This has to be the game plan going into this game. I also think on defense we need to keep a LB spying on Romo and knock him down every time he tries to move in the pocket. When he get pressured he tends to throw the ball up for grabs. In my mind theres no reason why we can't win, I'm not sold on the Cowgirls hype. :jets: :jets: PS. Let's just hope the same defense shows up this week.....like it did in the Steelers game. Come on Mangini!!
This is a tough matchup for the Jets defense. That Cowboys offensive line is gigantic. Our defense won't get to blow past Willie Colon and Sean Mahan this week. As much as our defense played better a lot of it had to do with the Steelers line blowing. I think we man up with Rhodes on Witten and Revis on Owens and see what happens. If it's not working then shift to more zone. Again the key is pressure so Mangini will have to find a weak point on the cowboys line to exploit. Hopefully they can use their size against them, show blitzes up the middle then drop into coverage and bring more pressure off the edges where they are probably more vulnerable. If we had Coles I would think we would be able to put up some points on that crappy secondary but without him it's going to be very tough with J-mac, smith and the other assorted garbage. We just don't have the speed or talent at wr without coles.
Speaking of Baker, is it possible Chad doesn't like throwing to Tight Ends? Clemens seems to look for Baker alot and Baker made some key catches Sunday.
It might have a little to do with TE's running in the seam, which is generally inside more traffic....... I still dont understand why they dont run him diagonal toward the marker behind a clearout....
There is a video preview on NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?game_id=29356&displayPage=tab_gamecenter&season=2007&week=REG12 I have a feeling there are going to be some good 'ol boys choking on their chicken at the end of this one. The Cowboys remind a bit of us last year. Are they really that good or just lucky? With regard to their pasing game , I think we have to play zone all day which would suit Rhodes and Smith against TO going deep. I would like to see Harris stepping up and like he did against the Steelers try to wreak havoc behind the lines. If we can score early and try to make them chase the game we will be there or thereabouts at the final whistle. Close but a Jets win
Amazing how we barely win one game and now everyone is saying we can go into Dallas and beat the 9-1 Cowboys on Thanksgiving. What a change in a week. Not complaining though.
I think it wil come down to who is better prepared for the short week game. Limit the number of plays, accentuate strenghts and play to their weaknesses. If the defense can play the way it did against the Steelers we are just as likely to win it as they are. I think KC is armed with more confidence now and our players are coming off an emotional win. If we digress to prior weaks it will be ugly. I expect more TE catches and screens with Leon in the mix. Jets might surprise us all.
Here's what I think the gameplan is: OFFENSE: Open it up deep on what is the glaring hole on the Cowboy, the secondary. Give Clemens arm a chance to show off, look for Cotch downfield, look for McCairens (if he's anything he's big). Also, we're going to have to go in there with the "nothing to lose" mentality, I really want to see the reverse throw with Smith, or some kind of gadget play, it might be the only way we compete in this game. Certainly, we won't be bangin it up the middle with Jones as much in this game. DEFENSE: Make Romo run. We've got to get him scramblin around in the pocket and making bad decisions. If we can do to him what we did to Roethlisberger last week, we'll eliminate the deep-ball to TO and make them beat us on the ground, which we're going to have to stop. Like someone above said, it should be Rhodes and Revis on TO.
No kidding. Its all a matter of which team show up this week. Personally I'd love to see them play another game like against pitttsburgh. IF, and its a big one, we come out with the same enegry and drive that we did against Pitt, it should be a good game. If we come out like the weeks before the By, I'll be sleeping by the end of the third quarter.
Terrell Owens on Darrelle Revis: 'Who? I Don't Know Who That Is' Posted Nov 21st 2007 1:16PM by Michael David Smith Filed under: Cowboys, Jets, Dallas, New York, The Word http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/nfl Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens, I'd like you to meet New York Jets rookie cornerback Darrelle Revis. He's the guy with the nice vertical to the right, and you'll be seeing a lot of him tomorrow, when the Cowboys play the Jets. When asked about Revis, Owens had this to say: "Who? I don't know who that it is," Owens said. "Once I step on the field it doesn't matter who's out there. I don't pay attention to numbers or names. I go out there and I focus on what I'm supposed to do. That's not a slight on him, or whoever he is. I just go out there and play football." That's a pretty good put-down, even if Owens pretends he didn't intend it as a slight. For his part, Revis says he knows who Owens is: "He's playing great, they move him around a lot, the slot, outside, and they look for him to make plays," Revis said. "You never know with T.O. He can get loose in coverage and I think some teams lose track of where he's at. That's the one thing we need to focus on, where he's at, at all times." One Cowboy who does know who Revis is: Coach Wade Phillips, who says the Cowboys had a high grade on Revis in this year's draft.
