i saw that article too, it completely ignores the injuries the team has suffered... shonne greene is still by far our feature back as well. also, i didnt know rex was our offensive coordinator...

Powell was much more active last week and I think you will see him taking 50% of the carries.

The pass to backs -- they give Sanchez shit about it but when they had LT Sanchez put up solid numbers to his outlet receiver - something all teams do. The Pats make a living off bubble screens and dump off to backs.

The Jets just don't have a back for that - powell is usually in pass protection and not in the route, McKnight who if the best option for this role never touches the field.

Not being able throw screens to the backs limits our offense (not to mention we rarely throw a deep pass either). This is 2012, we need to get a runningback who can catch the ball and a quarterback who can throw to him.

We owe Sanchez a lot of money true, so lets just run him into the ground with the shitty team around him and then put a rookie in after 2013. Perhaps we can look for a pass catching back in the meantime...

Yeah when LT was with the Jets, we never had an issue running screens or checking down. I think the problem really started becoming an issue during the Miami game last year when Mark's dumb-ass threw 2 INTs to defensive lineman.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but it does seem like Rex has taken the reigns and made adjustments. He's back to ground and pound mode. It's definitely Rex. That's his signature. We've gotten up to 12th in rushing, when we were far below average before. I especially agree with the article about needing a back that can catch. Our offense is a few sandwiches short of a picnic and Rex knows it. He's sticking with the basics because it worked in 2009 when Mark was a rookie.

Who on the Jets is a solid pass catcher right now?

Jeremy Kerley, Dustin Keller (when he's not accounted for), ...

The overall group of receivers is just pathetically bad. Sanchez is inaccurate to begin with and the Jets have lost almost all of the surehanded receivers he threw too. What is the result of that likely to be?

Crappy QB performance and a misfiring offense.
