http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking?season=2006&week=1&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab3pos2 disrespectful...i think we're better than AT LEAST the bills, packers, and texans, and i'm feeling good about beating tennessee
Who cares. I saw that SI picked FIVE of the SAME afc teams to make the playoffs as last year. That never happens. We were picked to make the Superbowl last year or at least go deep into the playoffs -- and now we are worse than the old Dolts and 'Aints combinded? Dont believe the lack of hype.
The worst ranking is Houston Texans at 24 when they are clearly still behind everyone on the list, especially when you consider that D. Davis is out for the year...The guy they banked on so they wouldn't have to take Reggie Bush.
This really shouldn't come as any surprise. Until the Jets give the media reason to believe otherwise, they'll continue to be ranked at the bottom of these lists.
the thing that irks me: let's just say we go 10-6 (mega stretch, but for the sake of making a point...), the media will act like it never bashed us and mocked the new regime. it never eats crow, even when there's a feast. cheers
Yeah well, who cares? We know better. And we as a group have even started letting them know how we feel about them (the media, that is.) They know we are licking our chops, just hoping that something happens to put some more egg on their collective faces.
As much as you or I don't care about what they think, they could probably give two shits about what we think. It's their job to make these predictions and most of the time predictions are wrong. They're used to being wrong.
Maybe this will be a blessing and teams will overlook us. Hopefully this will be like the Rangers in hockey this year where all the pre-season polls had them as the worst team in the NHL and they almost won the division if not for a late season collapse.
How can you compare the Jets with the rangers? They deserved the last spot they got because of the previous six years of the HIGHEST payroll, and all these crazy stars, and then never making the playoffs. If they could do it six years why not seven. ESPN is too involved with stats. If they keep going off the stats of last years team, of course we will be ranked last. Look at all the injuries. You lose 2 QB's, and 1 HOF RB, and then have vinny tossing the ball, your not gonna have a good season.
The only teams that the Jets deserve to be ranked ahead of are San Francisco, Buffalo and New Orleans but the rankings of the bottom 5 or even the bottom 10 could be really be shuffled any way you want. The Jets aren't gonna win games in power rankings, so hopefully they do it on the field.
