Lol at least he is extremely easy to cut. Honestly though he's so cheap I'm fine with keeping him as a backup.
This is going to need some work. Mike White's name is not in very bold print at the very top of the page.
Fortunately he is a Restricted Free Agent, which means the Jets can tender him. They will have the 1st, 2nd, or Original Round Tender at their disposal, so he either remains with the Jets or they automatically get picks in return.
I wouldn't be upset with a second round inside linebacker if one is there to be had. I haven't really watched them personally as a prospect but I have to imagine this Nakobe Dean linebacker for Georgia is the real deal with how incredible they've been.
Dean is definitely more of a traditional Will than a Mike; I know that Saleh has used light Mikes but I'm curious to see what he measures in at for the combine. If you end up with Mosley sticking around as Mike and bring in a guy like Dean as Will that would be a nice pair of LB's. LB, S, and TE are positions that you can find in rounds 2-3 so it kind of depends who is the best available at those positions when the Jets pick, because I'd like an addition at all 3 of those.
Isn't Maye tagged? Wouldn't that place him on the roster? Who is Parker Ferguson? Never heard of him.
Parker Ferguson is a UDFA who is currently on IR. For may, Franchise Tags only last 1 year so in 2022 he is a Free Agent.
Insofar as TE goes what are your guys ideal way to attack that problem? I feel like that position is not only a terrible weakness on our roster in general but it is magnified here because our offensive system is supposed to be using them more than normal. I'm wondering if the Jets wouldn't be well served to try to draft one with a relatively high pick AND try to sign a more veteran established FA type as well.
I don't think Kroft is half bad as a second option, but since we're using him as a first option he looks average or worse sometimes. I think others have mentioned the frequency of 1st round TEs hitting us pretty low, I'd be fine with grabbing another FA journeyman next season and adding a guy in the mid rounds but I don't know what their plans are for Yeboah yet. He's a pretty intriguing Hback type. TEs remind me of OL in terms of development, some break out immediately but many teeter between bad and average and skip from team to team before they end up putting it together.
thanks for this! the good news too is we have extra picks in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th. and 11 picks total (1,1,2,2,3,4,4,4,5,5,6) should be able to land 4-5 quality starters from that at least. we are also set to have the 8th most cap space inj the NFL at 56 million so we can land a couple of FAs to fill holes and bring back some key players. I think we bring back all the restricted FAs for sure. for the UFAs not much I feel we need to resign. Foley would be someone I keep for sure and moses depending on the price. I'd like to keep crowder around but I don't think he stays. Which means we'll likely resign cole as the team likes him a lot and he'll be cheap. I don't think we need coleman at all. I'd love a cj verdall in the 4th to go with carter and ty. Maye is likely gone but we could try to bring bakc joyner cheap. kroft and berrios seem like likely cheap resigns. even after all that we can make a run at a few top FAs and draft the other needs. it's looking pretty good for 2022. With a good draft there I really think we can compete for the playoffs in 2023 if wilson has a josh allen like jump from year 2 to 3
Draft. it's a solid TE class. I'd love wudermeyer with the seattle 1st. if not plenty of guys in rounds 2-4 to be had. Even drafting 2 TEs is a good option since we have 11 picks including 3 in the 4th. with the 4ths we couuld get RB verdall, and a TE like barry, ruckert, la porta, or whyle. probably like 6 4th round graded TEs in the draft. like 2-3 in the 2nd as well. and wydermeyer leads the pack as a late 1st early 2nd rounder right now
I totally agree. There are around 4-5 quality TEs who could hit FA. I look for JD to try to sign one and then to draft one in round 2 or 3 in the 2022 draft. I have a feeling that Wesco won't be back. They could re-sign Kroft, and that would give them 3 quality TEs.
Bumped just for a couple of updates. We’re now about 2 months from full-on off-season speculation, so if you want another look at who is under contract for the coming year.
