With the numbers he has put up at the combine it is hard to know if he will still be around in later rounds at all. I can see him being there in the 3rd probably, but I am thinking our second offensive lineman will be taken in round 3. By the way, has anyone heard the rumours that the Texans are shopping the first overall pick? One of the articles on the Jets site said NYJ might be interested so that they can use it for Leinart or Cutler. If we traded up to get the first pick, why in God's name would we take anyone but Reggie Bush? Cutler, in my opinion and from what I have heard about him is probably a good prospect but I don't see him making the impact Leinart or Bush will right away. He's probably not a top 5 pick, and I bet the Jets are the only team that would make him one. For all you D'Brickashaw haters, there haven't been any reports of us talking to him so you should be happy, even though I am not. Here are more times and measurements from the combine: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/9269912 Just for the hell of it I am going to list the guys I want us to draft. 1. D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT) 2. Charlie Whitehurst (QB) 3. Daryn Colledge (OT) 4. Reggie McNeil (QB/WR, runs 4.35) 4. Jerious Norwood (RB) 5. Babatunde Oshinowo (DT) 6. Greg Jennings (WR) 7. Jeremy Bloom (WR/ST/Olympic Moguler) I think I may have missed a pppick or two in there somewhere...
I think we get some late round comp picks for the FA's we lost. BTW, Jerious Norwood could be a later round steal. I think he will go somewhere in the 2nd round, if not, definitely in the 3rd. No way, does he fall to a 4th round pick. As for trading up: I really doubt we will. I think we are smoke screening. If we did, hypothetically speaking, I can not see us doing it for anybody other than Bush. We can stay right where we are and still get a QB. There is no need to trade up for a QB.
I saw Norwood play once early in the college football season, and I was blown away. Id be ecstatic to see the Jets pick him up in the middle rounds.
I like him. Might be a Ronnie Harmon type player. I don't think Norwood can handle 200 carries a year, but he might be a good pass receiver.
I'm not so sure. State ran him a bunch this year (he pretty much was the entire offense) and he held up remarkably well considering. I've seen him play a couple of times in person and I've been impressed by him. He's blazing quick and has good hands, but State always has an enormous line to run behind, even in bad years. He needs to put on a few pounds, but in theory, so does Reggie Bush
Well, through two seasons- Ronnie Harmon 170 carries, 78 receptions Jerious Norwood 201 carries, 40 receptions Norwood only had one game with double digit carries in 2007.
And thus the spectacle of trying to guess "late round steals" year after year. I believe the Falcons took Norwood in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Since the Falcons did not have a 1st round pick that year, he ended up being their 2nd pick which happened to be the 3rd round
