Takes over as President of Related Company's West Side Railyards project. Oh the irony. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/2245-jets-announce-senior-management-team
That empty railyard is coming along nicely. What happened to all of the other bidders the Jets were forcing out of a fair deal?
I have wondered why he was still employed by the Jets since he was hired to get the WSS and failed to do so. Also, I always thought Jay Cross looked like Barnaby from March of the Wooden Soldiers(the Laurel & Hardy Holiday Classic).
Actually, Jay Cross is a real estate development guy, and I don't think there is a need for his role now that the Stadium is settled and the marketing has drawn first blood with a sponsor. I'm not so sure this not replacing of Jay Cross' position says anything about Woody Johnson's hands-on or hands-off with the NYJs.
I never liked him. He always seemed very snoody and awkward w/ the public, and he failed miserably at the one thing he was brought here to do.
I can say with first hand knowledge that the guy did not know the first thing about football when he came in, and it was embarrassing to hear him try and talk about it. He was, however, very skilled with the sailboat. Good riddance.
I always thought he was a beat writer. I must be thinking of Randy Cross. Oh well, so long Mr. Cross.
I was thinking they could find a nice spot for him next to J. Hoffa on the 50 yard line after they blow up the old Giant Stadium
I edited it, the 1st link now has video footage of Irv and the pregame show at the '79 NFC Title Game.
That's good stuff, one of the worst championship games ever played. Remember Jayne Kennedy? She was the replacement for Phyllis George, the earliest bimbos on football pregames.
