this is who I'd really like to get. He seems to be the only real 'sure-thing' out of the top five, for our team, and nobody really seems to be talking about him. And it can't be because he's probably out of reach, because plenty of people are talking about Chris Long.

If Woody is our guy at RT this season, that puts Moore, who is solid but not spectacular, at right guard. Moore and Faneca should do great immediately, but are not very long term solutions. If we got Long he could be our right tackle for a decade, allow Woody to play his natural RG position with Moore as depth and we could just work on some Guard projects for when Woody/Faneca are done.

I wasn't as sold on this kid till I saw his video from NFL.com which is also on nyjets.com - the little video bio they've been doing with many of the first round prospects. Long basically said he likes to play mean and put peoples face in the dirt. I like the idea of some really mean guys on the line, especially with Mr. Cool, D'Brick restraining DE's on the other side, and we already have one mean guy in Faneca, I'd like one more! :jets::up:

Hard to argue that he would be a bad pick. We've upgraded the O-line already and there are other needs but I can't imagine we would regret the pick at 6.

I know it's early but Micheal Oher out of Ole Miss would be a good pick up also next season. Left tackle.

Oher would be great but we would probably have to go 2-14 to get him in next year's draft. With a weak QB crop next year Oher has a good chance to go # 1.

but can most left tackles play at the same level at right tackle? From what I gather, Brick couldn't. He's well suited for left tackle and I wouldn't want to consider replacing him unless he gave up 15-20 sacks this season. And I actually think he'll give up less than ten.

Oher could play the right side, but it would be a waste of his talents, also, he will probably be the first linemen taken in next years draft, so unless we have another terrible season and are picking in the top 6 again, we don't really have a shot at him.

Either Long would be a great addition to the NYJ...... Jake Long could make their O-line top tier. Run blocking mauler on the right side. At that point the foundation would be built and the playmakers just need to be plugged in.

Although I doubt either are available when the JETS make their selection.

I don't think we'll wast the 6th overall pick on a RT. Considering JL can play LT at a high level, a trade down scenario is much more likely in the event that he drops to us.

i kinda agree with that, but Carl Peterson is too smart for Herms bullshit. If it were Herm and Bradway in KC- J. Long would be sitting there at 6.

Yea i would love to see him in gang green even though we "solved" our rt problems with Damien Woody, i still have my doubts.

But barring a trade up, this will be a moot point.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but if Jake Long (or even Chris) fell to #4, I think we might try to swap picks with Oakland, which could be the reason for the rumor that we were in talks with Oakland for #4...

The rumors are because we need one of four people or the pick is a waste. Either Long, McFadden or Gholston. Anybody else we might get stuck with isn't worth the number 6 pick. We could take Ryan but we won't be of much help this year and it's all about this year no matter who says what.

FYI, Damien Woody's "natural" position is not RG. That's the position he got benched playing, before stepping in at Right Tackle. If anything, his natural position is Center.

That's true but he would still move to RG if they got Long. At least for a year and then Long might move to LT when they decide to dump Ferguson.
