Jaguars beat reporter Tania Ganguli reports @taniaganguli "The #Jaguars are hiring Mike Mularkey, according to a source. Mularkey interviewed today." Manish Mehta is quoting her as well. @TheJetsStream "There you go. Schottenheimer out of the mix RT @taniaganguli #Jaguars are hiring Mike Mularkey, according to source. #nfl" So what happens to Schotty? EDIT: Mod's merge if you want, I felt it was big news.
He gets moved laterally in the organization, hopefully to a place as far away from mark Sanchez and the offense as possible. I'm thinking Offensive Assistant - Quality Control, working from home.
He still has a big chance at going to Florida as their OC also I have heard if his dad gets the job in Tampa I think he goes there.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. NOOOOOO! i knew the Hue Jackson thing was too good to be true. No one on the Jets has enough balls to fire Schotty. Another season of mediocrity at best offense.
If he's not fired by tomorrow I think we know where Schottenheimer will be next year. With Jackson available I would be surprised if he's still employed with the Jets by mid-afternoon tomorrow.
Shotty will take a job as an OC for another team. He won't be with the Jet's. They will have an almost entirely new offensive staff.
I still can't believe they even interviewed Schottenheimer. He's done nothing to warrant a HC interview. Hopefully this means he's getting canned. Hue Jackson is the guy we should hire.
There's no benefit to the Jets in canning him. They get all the bad press for having made a mistake in keeping him around this long and then they pay his salary for somebody else who hires him cheap and the Jets pay the difference. On top of that they get some people pissed who think Schotty was treated badly by the organization. They'll make the same type of move they made with Bradway, only this time they'll plan to let him go when the contract is up. If he wants to go do something productive for the next year or two he can resign and go do that. BTW, I don't have any problem with Schotty refusing to give up the salary. I certainly wouldn't give it up if I had a family to take care of. I also don't mind the Jets moving him laterally, just as long as he's nowhere near Sanchez next season in what will be a make-or-break year both for Sanchez and for the Jet's window at a Super Bowl in the next few years.
i swear to god, if you're trying to tell me that schotty will be back because rex or woody doesn't have the spine to do it.... i'll break someones face
