What happened to this guy? They throw to him once a week and he either Aligator-arms it or just falls down. Dude used to catch 50 yard bombs against us.

How much is this guy pulling in money wise for his non-production ,I think of Dave barrett as well when i think of over-paid and underproductive players on the team!

I'm going to explain this in simple terms:

JMac was good in 2004, when he was a #2 and we had a decent offense. He led the team in receptions.

His production fell in 2005 because our entire offense sucked.

This year, he's a slot receiver so he's not going to get as many looks.

So there's no reason to be furious about him like some of you are. He's not hurting the team. There's no reason to get rid of him before the end of the season.

You're right badger, he's not hurting the team at all right now, but he's not exactly bringing much value at this moment. If we can get something halfway decent for the guy, I say trade his sorry ass.

Why do you feel the need to explain anything? My post says what the hell is wrong with this guy?. I follow the Jets. I know he caught the ball in 04. That's why I posted it. He gets paid to catch the ball. The last four games he has 0 catches for 0 yards. Of course he's hurting the team. He's a receiver that ain't receiving. When Graham comes running out to punt because J-Mac fell down when Chad looked for him on 3rd down, didn't he just hurt the team?

My post wan't really directed to you since you were rational in your argument. My post was for those who seem to have unnecessary hatred for him.

JMac has played a really small role in the offense lately and doesn't get enough looks. He's not catching 50 yd bombs because we aren't throwing any. On the play where he fell down, it looked like the DB tripped him. As for the drops, I think they're a matter of confidence, and the best way to get his confidence back is to keep throwing to him.

In the first 2 games we averaged 35 pass attempts. In the 4 after that we averaged 24.5 attempts. With this dropoff it's no surprise that there won't be as many throws going to JMac.

Ok, that's fair. Sorry I got all riled up. The one thing about your first post I'll take on is the fact that since he is in the slot he doesn't get a lot of chances. Yes, he'll get less chances than a receiver that's split wide, but not 0 catches in four games. Chrebet made a career in the slot. If JMac were getting open, Chad would find him eventually.

anytime ive seen him open he just drops catches. i think mangini buried whatever fluttering confidence of his remained from the 05 season.

im not making excuses either cuz my next question was, since when did he deserve a nickname?

    hahahhaa

maybe its just easier to type?

He drops too many balls for my liking, even with the reduced role.
