It's MARTYBALL, believe me...

Too much circumstantial evidence points to this.

1- Woody/Tanny claim that discussions about Mangini's future have been going on throughout the season, with the possibility of them letting him go.

2-Marty Schottenheimer has been around the team an aweful lot, this season, and i think it's got more to do with the HC job, then saying "hello" to his boy.

3-Why would Woody/Tanny make comments like, "Brett will be more familiar with this offense next year"?
What that tells me is Lil Schotty will be staying on as OC, and the only way that happens is if Pops becomes HC.

4- They haven't fired the coaches because with Marty as HC, and Brian as OC, we keep Westhoff, and Callahan, and bring in somebody else as DC.

5- Lil Schotty can be groomed as "head coach in waiting", under daddy's tutoring.

If we hire Marty Schottenheimer, I'm not even bothering with Sunday Ticket next season. Boring fucking football and chokes in the postseason.

They want Favre back so bad. The only way this happens is if Brian Schottenheimer stays on as OC.
No way does Cowher agree to keep Schotty as OC. Only daddy would agree to that.

Marty never had a complete team to work with and he's ALWAYS had to rebuild in every job he's gotten. Think of what he can do with this team.

My first choice is Cowher 100% but I'd be content with Marty.

Yeah, and I won't give a shit, just like I didn't give a shit when Herm choked. I want a Super Bowl, and Marty has proven time and time again that he's not capable of it.

Well, at least you may actually get to the post season. He has the best regular season record of all of them..Parcells, Cowher, Bellifuck..better than anyone.

So you'd rather give a coordinator with zero head coaching experience (and who's never taken a team to the SB either) a chance rather than a proven winner? Come on.

Wasn't it already confirmed that Marty was going to meet to discuss the job?

Look i'm sick of the mediocre 10-6 season when the Jets actually do have a "winning season."

But Marty can get you 11-12 wins, a 1st round BYE...And then we'll see how he screws up in the playoffs, or realizes he can get past his problems.

It beats most of the other candidates out there.

Speaking of SB: Cowher almost did it too, until that one magical season.

You do realize he would keep his son on as OC, right? The one that can't call a game with a gun to his head?

I'd have no problem w/ Marty if we can't land Cowher.

Not really a surprise, he's like a finely-tuned version of Herm.

It'll be back to the old days of dull football, 9 or 10 wins and a playoff game or two every other year. Woo!

If Cowher is out of the picture, I would go with Marty.

He is a good coach, if not having problems in the playoffs.

Getting there is the first step, and at least he can get the team there.

Nobody was really complaining about the offense early on.

And "Martyball" may just mean more TJones/Leon...Now will Brett accept throwing the ball 20 times a game? Roughly...I hope.

    Bring back Carroll.

It really sucked winning and going to the playoffs in most years. Choking and missing the playoffs is much better, right?

I wouldn't mind Marty because he's a good coach and wins in the regular season but his lack of postseason success scares me. I think they referred to Favre being more comfortable because he'd have a whole season under our system instead of coming in towards the end of training camp and having to learn everything fast.
