I've been thinking about what Leonard Williams said defending his play against Cleveland.

He didn't get much action, he stayed in his gap, he was in one spot then Cleveland ran the ball the other way.

Add it all up to me that sounds like a read & react defense instead of a scheme designed to ATTACK the football.

Leo and the defense probably played more to stay in gaps to keep Tyrod from running wild....they seem to be more attacking this year, the defense has actually played good IMO so far this season.

Bowels runs a blitz heavy scheme that Relys on extra rushers to make up for the lack of a pure threat off the edge, it’s anything but read and react. Quit making shit up your getting as bad as jethro

News flash: Tyrod Taylor didn't play the entire game.

Aside from week 1 they've been a paper tiger. Folded down the stretch on Miami's last possession with a chance to get the O back the ball for a chance to tie the game at home.

    Two blown leads against Cleveland.

What type of scheme would you say Leonard Williams was describing?

It does not matter if your running a one gap or two gap system, as a lineman on any running play you cover your gap, or gaps, that is your job. If the other team runs away from you you need to hold your gap to prevent a cut back from becoming open. He is simply describing how he ends up with a goose egg on the stat sheet. That only covers the running game though not him being unable to get home in the passing game.

Is Bowles running any defense at all? Serious question. Looks to me like a bunch of guys in Jets uniforms are out there running around without any rhyme or reason.
