http://sports.yahoo.com/top/feedback?author=Jason+Cole They get an A+ for drafting a safety most teams wouldn't have touched in round 1 due to character problems and a bunch of trades (including the Welker one, and he's a #3 receiver now thanks to the Moss and Stallworth acquisitions). Just posting this to point out that they get a B+ just for Schaub and a top DT. He says explicitly that he doesn't like the rest of their picks. Yet, they get a B+. He says we made 2 very good picks and picked a solid developmental offensive lineman project. Yet, we get a C, and absolutely no mention of the Jones trade. I never e-mail sportswriters, but that's just a brutal oversight, especially if he's going to give so much weight to Matt Schaub, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker. Here's what I e-mailed him.
You should have followed up with " Maybe you clowns should spend less time writing sports articles and spend more time trying to beat Google- ask yourself, when's the last time said to you, 'Just Yahoo it.'?
True, but he's just a sportswriter... Not like I'm e-mailing Johnny Yahoo or whoever the hell started up yahoo. I'd do the e-mail differently at this point, but I just wanted to get something out there before I forgot about it.
I guess you think that eveybody should write nothing but good stuff about the Jets? The bottom line this year draft sucked. yes we got a good CB but IMO we paid to much for him.
We got a very good runningback and 2 guys that Cole says he liked. Yet Cole says that Houston had a good draft because they traded for Schaub and made one good pick.
So people actually write good things about the Jets? Last I checked it was a very rare thing to actually see some form of praise towards the Jets. That was obvious bias towards the Patsies, but everyone does it. Not just Yahoo.
I just think there was 2 many good CB in this draft to spend what we did on Revis. Now with that said if he becomes the next primetime then cool.
Wrong. There were TWO elite CB's in this draft. We could keep taking second tier guys like Ross (Miller) or Houston (Strait) or go get a real deal CB like we did. Even Ross would have been gone by 25 if we had stayed put.
LOL, did you watch the video of Murphy on Yahoo! where he analyzed the "winners" of the draft? About Pozluszny, he said "This was the guy the Bills were targetting as a fit for their 3-4." Hey buddy, the Bills haven't run the 3-4 for a while (Tampa 2 now). Furthermore, Poz is not a 3-4 LB. Honestly, that's a pretty damn egregious mistake.
It's hard to even compare Ross to Miller as Miller has been in the league a couple of years and still is younger than Ross by almost two years! Otherwise - well said. This year's draft was misleading. It seemed as if there was alot of depth at CB - but if you look at the talent as it is tiered - you realize that the drop off after Revis/Hall(I don't even like Hall that much) was very big. Solid job getting a potentially great all around #1 CB.
That wasn't as bad as the guy who graded the draft at CBS Sportline. Who? Prisco I think. He said the Jets gave up too many picks for a team that is not close to the Super Bowl. That got me so pissed off. The 49ers who gave up next years 1st rounder for a 28th pick, the 49ers will be picking 10-20 next year, with a decent chance at a top 10 pick. They are a young team and gave up a first rounder that can be top 10 next year, but yet they get a A grade. Imagine the 49ers losing a top 10 pick next year... to New England!!! I know they are improving but I'm not sold on that team, I don't trust Alex Smith. Prisco makes me sick...
Sensing that this draft class was not very deep, the Jets may have been justified in giving up most of their late-round picks to move up and secure two players - CB Darrelle Revis and LB David Harris - who could start right away. In OT Jacob Bender, they landed a solid developmental prospect. WR Chansi Stuckey, if he can stay healthy, could turn out to be a solid, little player. Given the quality of the players they landed and the addition of RB Thomas Jones for a swap of second-round picks, this draft is more certain than most others to produce at least three starters, maybe four if Bender ever reaches his potential. Grade: Outstanding this is from kffl not bad eh !!!!
Here's a listing of a bunch of draft grades. The funniest one is someone actually gave the Phins an A+ http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?id=2854030
Reading that list, it was interesting to see how some grades were pretty much unanimous, while some were all over the map. I guess that proves how pointless draft grades are.
